H. Miekley Obituary

H. John Miekley, III H. John Miekley III, of Mill Valley, CA passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2022 at the age of 61. John was born in Abington, PA on June 5, 1960 to Howard J. and Susanne Miekley. He lived in Cheltenham, PA until he graduated with a computer science degree from Temple University in 1983. He moved to Camp Hill, PA to begin his successful career in technology consulting. His first job was at EDS where he formed lifelong friends. He continued his career in Denver, CO and San Francisco, CA, working at firms, including: Ernst & Young, Sapient, CSC, ThoughtWorks, Endava, VM Ware, and most recently, Grid Dynamics. John loved the beach and spent summers at the Jersey Shore for over 50 years. He also loved the mountains of Colorado where he met his wife, Leslie, in Telluride in 1992 and in California where he spent winters skiing with his family, Sam (born in 1996) and Kate (born in 1999), and many friends. He was an accomplished runner completing multiple triathlons, marathons and the annual Dipsea Race in Marin County. John was a beloved brother to Mark (Philadelphia); fun-loving uncle to Craig, Eric and Rebecca Miekley and Erik and Amanda Foulds; and a cherished nephew and cousin to his extended family. Aside from his many outdoor activities, he was also an incredible chef, gardener and joke teller. A memorial service has been held. Donations in John's memory may be made to Buckelew Programs - Suicide Prevention Programs: www.buckelew.org or a charity of your choice.

I was reading the posts on my Brother's Obituary and I want to thank his friends and family members for the condolences and kind words. It has been a tough period to endure but your kind expressions are very much appreciated by Leslie, Kate, Sam and myself. It's been tough in recent years being 3,000 miles away from John but we talked often and I was comforted hearing all of the kind words at his Memorial Service, especially from all of his California friends, who are amazing. I realized being there how many lives he touched and how much I will miss him. All my love to Leslie, Kate and Sam. The memories we have of our families growing up in OC NJ will last forever.

Very fond memories with John while in HS and we both worked as doormen at the Elkins Park House and summers in SIC.
John was a good friend and I visited him Leslie, Sam and Kate while in San Fran and we had an epic mountain bike ride thru the fire trails. We also reconnected years later at the Jersey shore.
The circumstances saddens me more than I can imagine.

So sorry for you loss Leslie, Kate, Sam and the entire family and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Rest In Peace

I grew up with Mark and John on Cottman Street. Mark and I became best friends in the 4th grade and we have been that way ever since. John was always a great guy and has such a beautiful and successful family. John will truly be missed by all. God bless him and his family.

I´m so sad about cousin John´s untimely passing. I will always remember his smile, the fast way he sometimes spoke and spending fun times with him on the beach in Ocean City. Particularly praying for Leslie, Sam, Kate and Mark. Much love to you

John was a good friend to me, and his passing under these circumstances saddens me more than I can say.

I offer my most sincere condolences to Leslie, Kate and Sam.

I got to know John initially through our participation in Indian Princesses with our daughters, Kate and Emma.

John organized our "tribe" of princesses about 17 years ago, and by mutual agreement of everyone involved he was the permanent "Chief" of our tribe over many fun years.

He will always be our Chief.

Rest In Peace my Friend.
