Halina Krukowski

1947 - 2023

Halina passed away on January 28, 2023, taken too soon by pancreatic cancer. Her crazy shining light will be sorely missed by her neighbors and film and theater families. Halina was born on August 20, 1947 in Germany, the first born child of Polish immigrants relocated by World War II. The family eventually made their way to the United States where Halina grew up. With an interest in Broadcast Communications, Halina completed some college credits toward that degree, but went to work instead of graduating. An accomplished photographer, Halina's break in the movie industry came at Orion Pictures, where she worked for eight years. From there, Halina made her way to the Bay Area, landing a job at LucasFilm in 1988. Her business card read Manager of Photographic Services; Research. She was that and so much more to the hundreds of LucasFilm employees who called her friend and were featured in LucasFilm yearbook photos along with various company party and gathering pictures. Halina retired from LucasFilm in 2005, founding a new life volunteering at the Hospice Hodgepodge in Novato and most notably running the light board for shows at The Novato Theater Company and Ross Valley Players, where she charmed a whole new cadre of admirers. Halina was best known for dispensing jelly beans along with pithy wisdom and pointed insights. Halina is survived by her beloved Chihuahuas, Sonny and Cher, her sister Barbara Welsh and a loving army of fans.
