Henry died of a cardiac arrest on May 23, 2023 with his wife by his side.Henry (Hank) was born in San Francisco to Henry and Virginia Bellatorre. He was the dear husband of Katherine, father to Gregory and grandfather to Ethan. He also leaves a sister, Carole Gray, brother Al and his wife Nina, and his cousin Marianna. He had four nieces and nephews, Lisa, Bruce, Gina, and Anna and their children, Jacob, Damian, John, and Alexandra. He is missed by all.Henry was ambitious as a child and had a paper route in North Beach where he was raised. He would drop off small Christmas Cards to his customers before the holiday looking forward to the bonuses he might receive at Christmas! He attended Sherman School, Marina Middle School, and Galileo High School. Along the way, he made friends that he kept for a lifetime. Even in his last years, Hank would meet up with his pals for birthday dinners and barbeques in St. Helena. He loved these events! While at City College of San Francisco, he met his first wife, Linda, at a party. They married and had a son, Gregory. The young family lived in a foggy part of the city. Once Hank finished San Francisco State, they started to look for a sunny spot and ended up in Marin County. This was perfect for Hank's obsession with tanning.Their new house was also the right spot for a yearly Halloween Extravaganza. Who can forget the 9 headed carved pumpkin totem poll? This totem pole was among the 29 pumpkins Hank would carve the day before Halloween. In the early days, Hank always had hot dogs and wine for the parents.Hank worked as a manager at UPS for 32 years, retiring at age 52. Most of the time he was on the night shift which he liked because the traffic was light. Calculating delivery routes for the drivers was a big part of his job. He was also in the U.S. Army Reserves for several years. His job in the Army was cooking! He had a long, wonderful retirement including, cooking, making wine with Mike and Frank, volunteering and traveling throughout Europe and the United States. While driving around the States, Hank started collecting little ceramic dogs from the forties and fifties. Some had hats, accordions, or Made in Occupied Japan stamped on the bottom. Never doing anything in a small amount, he accumulated over a thousand of them.Family dogs were his greatest love. Baci, a golden doodle, and Hank were inseparable. Everyday, even when he wasn't well, he would take Baci to the park, lean against the car, and throw the ball to Baci for about an hour. Baci is mourning deeply for his playmate. Prior to Baci there was Sluggo, Reggie, Max and Marbles. Each one special and extraordinary!Hank belonged to several Clubs in Marin including The Sons of the Golden West, The Elks, The Sirs, and Club d'Italia. He also spent time volunteering with The Guide Dogs for the Blind and giving food and company to the elderly. Rest in Peace, Hank! You had quite a life!In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Guide Dogs for the Blind, P.O. Box 151200,
