Jerome Michaels Obituary

Jerome Eldon (Jerry) Michaels 12/20/46 - 12/11/15 Jerry had a huge heart and lived his life with passion. He was loyal, loving and kind. He was an all around sports enthusiast who enjoyed a good tennis match as well as a chance to saddle up his horse for a nice ride. A huge baseball fanatic, Jerry loved "his" Giants! Jerry worked as a sales professional in the furniture and bedding industry in a career that spanned more than 35 years. Jerry's care and attention to detail took customer service to a new level. He was known throughout the industry for his knowledge, professionalism, integrity and his "can do" attitude. During the late 90s and early 2000s, Jerry helped pioneer Tempur-Pedic. Additionally, Jerry was instrumental in building companies such as Natura and ComforPedic. Jerry was an active member of the AA community. He also participated in several theater companies including the Belrose Theater in San Rafael, the San Anselmo Play House and the Novato Players where he appeared in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest as "Harding", 42nd St., and Harvey as "Elwood". Jerry enjoyed playing the role of "Tevye" in Fiddler On The Roof, twice with the San Anselmo Play House. He is survived by: His loving wife of 20 years Colleen Michaels, Napa, CA; His daughter Vanessa Michaels, Cotati, CA and granddaughter Gracie Ludlow; daughter Brittany Michaels, Novato, CA and grandson Lucas Blaring-hem; daughter Erin Michaels, San Diego, CA; daughter Stacy Picone, San Rafael, CA; his sister Sandra Wheat, Los Angeles and niece/nephew Rebekah and Samuel Wheat; and his nephews Larry, Bruce and Gene Michaels. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Anne Michaels; and his brother, Ronald Michaels. Jerry was a powerfully devoted friend, husband, father and grandfather. He will always be remembered, cherished and loved. We will miss him deeply, may he rest in peace. Jerry was a real innovator and visionary. He truly liked people and had a very forgiving heart. The man who replaced him with our company, undermined him and manipulated his ouster. Later when that man was himself ousted, Jerry embraced that man and invited him to stay at his home rather than pay for a hotel. Just an example for f his grace. RIP Jerry...

I, as with many others , owe a strong debt of gratitude to Jerry, for helping me grow into the man I am today. It's been years since I moved away and last saw Jerry, but he will always remain dear in my heart, and my prayers and condolences go out to the family .Stuart Fischbach

Jerry you were a dear friend for 32+ yrs. And, as your tribute mentioned, a powerfully devoted friend. I know that hearts are heavy around our community with your loss. I hope Colleen, your daughters and your entire family are brought a measure of peace with the knowledge that you are being taken care of. We loved you dearly, even though we hadn't physically seen you for years, we talked just a few weeks before your death and agreed we'd make time to see one and other soon. You sponsored me to my men's weekend and you were one of my first sponsor's at 21, when I came into the fellowship. You are missed. Love always, David Stearn
