JOYCE BRIER-SITTNICK Obituary

Joyce Brier-Sittnick After a courageous battle with breast cancer, Joyce Brier-Sittnick passed away in the early morning of October 26, 2011 with family at her side. Joyce was born July 11, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Social Work and began her career helping others in that field. Joyce moved to California in 1977 where she met her husband Pete Sittnick, a San Francisco restaurateur from Michigan. Joyce went on to become Vice President of Brier & Dunn, opening their San Francisco office in 1988. Joyce and Pete have resided in Tiburon for 15 years and Marin County for 24 years. Joyce gave back to her community through her volunteer work at Guide Dogs for the Blind, and in collaboration with her husband on the planning and operation of many community fundraising events. Joyce will be remembered as a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend. She added spice to any dinner party, an opinion to any conversation, and love to any gathering. Joyce is survived by her husband Pete Sittnick, her brother Jerry Brier and nephews Marik and Jason of Atlanta, her brother Josh Brier, sister-in-law Grace and nephews Jared and Adam of Mill Valley, and her mother and father-in-law, Carolyn and Allan Sittnick of Green Valley, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Dorothy and Murray Brier. To honor Joyce and her heroic effort to overcome breast cancer, contributions can be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, or The Guide Dogs for the Blind. The family will hold a small private memorial.

Dearest Pete: All of Joyce and your long-time friends from the Houlihan's days are thinking of you both and wishing you comfort. Believing that Joyce is no longer with us is very difficult to comprehend, but I take a little comfort in the thought that Fred & Roger and Frank, too, were there to greet her!
