Laura Choulos Obituary

Mrs. Laura Teresa Choulos In Loving memory of our mother Mrs. Laura Teresa Choulos, the matriarch of the well-known family of attorneys, died on Thursday July 30, 2009. She had just celebrated her 81st birthday with her extensive family at her wonderful home "Burlwood" in Mill Valley, where she had lived for 44 years. She was born in Italy but was brought to the United States at the age of six by her parents, Mario and Stephania Grimaldi. She was raised in San Francisco in the Marina District and attended Lowell High School. She then went to San Francisco State University and received her B.A. and Masters Degrees. Mrs. Choulos was always surrounded by her five children: her daughter, Anastasia, and four loving sons George, Alexander, Stephan and James and she had nine much-loved grandchildren: James, William, Lauren, Sophia, Alex, Sienna and Oliver, and Samantha and Danielle. Mrs. Choulos was the unifying force to the Choulos Family and their extended family and friends. She radiated love and sunshine to all and made everyone feel loved. She personified beauty and the loving mother and served as an inspiration to her friends by her demonstrable love and selflessness when it came to her children. Early on, she stretched family finances to buy properties surrounding her home in Mill Valley so that her children would live close by. All her children own and live on properties connected to hers in Mill Valley. She is rejoined with her beloved husband of over 50 years, Vasilios, who passed away six years earlier. She was inseparable from her distinguished and accomplished husband, Vasilios, and they made a dashing couple. The law firm that he started, Choulos, Choulos and Wyle continues in San Francisco. She enjoyed Art and was a benefactor of several individual artists. She was an accomplished dancer and she attended the theater as often as she could. She never said no to an invitation to go to the movies--even if she had seen the film before. The Funeral service will held on Wednesday, August 5 at 11:00 AM at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church at 245 Valencia St., San Francisco, CA 94103.

Laura,

You were a great lady who raised a wonderful family, the best legacy that you and Bill could leave behind. Your children are among my closest friends, and the memories that Mark, Alexandra and I have of being with your family are very special. Nothing will ever take those good times away from us. We'll miss you very much.
