Lawrence B. "Larry" Miller

1941 - 2016

Lawrence "Larry" B. Miller Passed away on April 18, 2016 in Tiburon, CA at the age of 74 after a long battle with bladder cancer. His will to live was strong and his capacity to love even stronger. We are grateful he spent his final days at home surrounded by family and that his final moments were peaceful. Larry is survived by his wife Gerri, daughters Lisa and Nicole, sister Channa Orah Meir, sons-in-law Andrew Hellman and Theo Robins, and grandchildren Arianna, Teigan, Liam, and Ella. Larry was born on November 6, 1941 in San Francisco, son of the late Arnold and Ruth Miller. He attended Lowell High School and graduated from UC Berkeley in 1963 with a degree in accounting. At Cal, Larry was very active in student life as a member of Sigma Alpha Mu, ROTC, and as a student yell leader. Following his service in the Army, he obtained his J.D. in 1968 from Hastings Law School. Larry married Geraldine "Gerri" Finkelstein on June 27, 1971. They moved to Tiburon in 1973 and raised their daughters there. They shared a deep and abiding love. Larry practiced law as House Counsel for Operating Engineers Local 3 for almost 30 years. He developed a passion for investing in real estate and enjoyed finding good investments and creating opportunities for family and friends. Larry was always generous with his time and resources and served on several boards including Jewish Vocational Services, Image for Success, Fair Housing of Marin, and Lowell and Cal alumni groups. Larry's zest for life was contagious and he could make a game out of anything. He was playful, fun loving, and competitive. He loved to travel, eat ice cream, and follow the Giants, 49ers, and Warriors. Larry read the newspaper daily and cared about politics and the world around him, but nothing was more important to him than family. Larry's funeral was held at Congregation Rodef Sholom in San Rafael on April 21 followed by a burial service at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation in Larry's memory, American Jewish World Service was one of his favorite organizations. Larry made a difference in the lives of so many. His life was a blessing to us all. He is greatly missed and will be remembered always.
