Mark Haynes Obituary

Mark Wilbur Haynes Dec. 1947 - July 8, 2014 He called himself the Forest Gump of rock and roll. A pioneer in the audio industry -- he was a musician in Breckenridge, a mover and shaker with ShowCo, toured the world as a sound engineer with Jefferson Starship, Willie Nelson, The Band, Cat Stevens and many others. As Vice President of Leo's Pro Audio and most recently working at ASG, he was a mentor and friend to many. He was a true family man, and created a sanctuary for his family in Fairfax, CA among the redwoods. Mark is survived by wife Laurie, daughter and son-in-law Kristen and Jeremy Bierly, sister, Heather McGee, and brother, Scott. Mark had a huge heart, generous soul, and boisterous personality that drew many close to him, and whom many will miss dearly. Memorial details TBA on Mark's facebook page.

Dear Laurie and Kristen,

Marc and I were so sad to hear of Mark's passing. We have so many wonderful memories of the Haynes Family during Kathleen and Kristen's softball years. Whether is was Laurie and I getting lost picking up snacks or watching Mark find the perfect spot out in the field to take some great pictures of Kristen - they were wonderful times that we will cherish.

We send our love and prayers to you both during this time.

Much love,
Ann and Marc Elias

Mark is an amazing man, husband and father. I feel so lucky to have gotten close to Mark, Laurie and Kristen. I have been their hair stylist for years now. Mark would always hummmmm songs while I cut his hair, I don't even think he new he did that. But I liked that about him. He is a kind loving soul that I will miss visiting with. And he has a great sense of humor, like taking a picture of a white prissy poodle in the salon and sending it to a co-worker saying " I'm getting my hair cut in Mill Valley " My favorite hair cut of all was when I got to go to Marks house and do a back yard cut. We had drinks and snacks and a fountain to sit by and the best company! You Mark Haynes will be missed but never forgotten my friend. I will miss mark calling me Mama Lisa.

Mark was one of my all time favorite people. I worked for 3 years at Leo's Pro Audio, and Mark took me "under his wing", and taught me how to sell as well as all about pro audio. We had a lot of laughs in those days, and I used to look forward to seeing him annually at AES conventions in the years since. Mark is definitely someone who made a strong positive impact on my life, and I will always remember him fondly.

I was so saddened to hear of the passing of Mark. My memories of Mark were of a sweet and kind hearted young man, with so much talent. Many fun times watching the band Mark was in The Bishops. A great group of guys having fun playing for us kids and all of us enjoying every minute of it. My prayers go out to his family and loved ones.

Mark and I were in our first real band together, The Bishops. Mark was the truly talented one, the guy who could figure out all the chords on the harder songs. He was also a very good songwriter and singer. He was my friend and an inspiration to me. I am deeply saddened by your passing old friend.

My thoughts, reflections, prayers, and fondness for those days go out to Marks family and all who knew him....music is the common bond between cultures....The Bishops came along at a great time to solidify a kinship among a student culture...may God enjoy the stories Mark is surely to tell of those days in the 60s, and may God bless all who knew Mark....

My condolences to his family. I'm sorry I didn't know he had moved to Marin and we were almost neighbors again. In high school, I was a huge fan of his music and am pleased to learn he enjoyed much success and joy by following his loves. Peace & Light, Mark.
