SYLVIA SHARP Obituary

Sylvia Jane Olsen Sharp Age 87, of Novato, CA died June 6, 2010 at home. Sylvia was born in Pierson, WA March 12, 1923 to Jens and Olifina Olsen and was very proud of her Norwegian heritage. She graduated from Queen Anne High School in Seattle WA. Sylvia married her Army Aircorps Sweetheart, William Cleveland Sharp on June 17, 1942 in Seattle, and spent 2 years living at McChord Field, WA. Sylvia is survived by her husband, their first born son William C. Sharp, Jr. of Ackworth, GA, Stephen Alan Sharp of San Rafael, CA and Susan Sharp Carr of Pueblo, CO, and seven grandchildren. She was predeceased by twin boys born in 1945, and a son John born in 1947 who died at age two months. Sylvia loved singing and dancing, as well as gardening, and played piano both classically and modern. She sang in Presbyterian Church choirs in various locations and was an active member of the Marin Country Club Garden Club and was always a willing volunteer for parkway beautification projects. She was a longtime member of the Oleander Group of the Marin Foundation and an active member of the Republican Women of Marin. Sylvia was a member of The Junior League of Columbus, OH, also the Junior League of Philadelphia, PA where she led their music program, and was active in their Outreach Shop. As a sustaining member of the San Francisco Junior League for over 20 years, she was an active volunteer in their Next to New Shop. Her vivacious personality will be sorely missed. A memorial service was held at the Presbyterian Church of Novato. Remembrances may be made to The Alzheimer's Association 1440 Redwood Hwy, Suite D-314 San Rafael, CA 94903.
