John Bell Obituary

John Edward Bell, 79 of Richwood, passed away Friday August 8, 2025 at his home on Sunnybrook Farm near Claibourne. He was born December 7, 1945 to the late John Russell and Lydia (Woleslagel) Bell. He was also preceded in death by his wife Linda (Carter), they were married August 1, 1971 and she died January 15, 2020. John Ed was a 1964 graduate of Richwood High School. He was involved in farming until he was drafted into the United States Army in 1967. When he was in the Army, he served as a chaplain's assistant in Germany for two years. When he returned home, he went to work on the family farm. John Ed was a lifetime member of the Baccarat American Legion Post #40 and the VFW #870, both in Richwood. He was also involved with the Forty & Eight in Marysville. John Ed was a member of the Claibourne United Methodist Church. He also loved working with horses and liked to go fishing. Surviving are his siblings, Bonnie Bell and Caroline (Bill) Lucas both of Marion Co., Mary (Rich Cappell) Snider and Joe Bell both of Marysville. Several nieces and nephews including Miranda (Jason) Swartz of Prospect sister-in-law, Nancy Hole and brother-in-law, Herb Carter, both of West Liberty. Private graveside services at the Claibourne Cemetery will be held with Military Honors given by the Richwood Area Veterans. Dr. Steven Fewell will officiate. Memorial gifts may be made to the Claibourne United Methodist Church, c/o Linda Carroll, 15957 Harmon Patrick Rd. Richwood, Ohio 43344 The Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home is assisting the family.
