James Mikula Obituary

James J. Mikula

Marshfield - James J. Mikula, age 73, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021, at his home in Marshfield with his wife and children by his side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 30, 2021, at St John the Baptist Catholic Church (201 W Blodgett St) in Marshfield. Fr. Robert Lotz will officiate. Visitation will be held at Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Friday, January 29, 2021, and again one hour prior to service on Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at a later date.

Jim Mikula was born May 31, 1947, the son of Joseph and Stephanie (Majerski) Mikula in Ladysmith, WI. He graduated from Flambeau High School in 1965. He achieved his Master's Degree from UW-Eau Claire in 1982. On August 14, 1971 Jim was united in marriage to the love of his life Sharon Filla at St. Michael's Church in North Creek, just outside of Arcadia, WI. They lived in Marshfield where he worked at the Marshfield Clinic for 43 years, starting in the lab, but serving most of his time as a clinic administrator.

Jim loved to spend time with his family first and foremost. Everyday after work, he would come home to his wife and children and just enjoy. Whether it was to play catch or run to watch one of the kids' games somewhere, Jim always wanted to be with his family. Although, the kids did not like when Dad wanted to help with homework, especially math. He never understood why we just couldn't get it. He also loved working in the woods. He provided an endless supply of wood for the furnace to keep the house warm in the winter months and also enjoyed building his own furniture for family and friends. His love of family continued on with his grandchildren. Jim would pack up the car and travel with Mom to see the grandchildren's ball games, swim meets, or gymnastic events, or see them perform in their recitals and concerts, and tease them when they were spending time at home. Family was all Jim needed to be happy.

To his friends and family, Jim will always be remembered for the kind and gentle manner with which he treated everyone. Jim was a genuine, caring man, with a humorous personality. Even those whom he met on a few occasions, he would treat with respect as if he had known them a lifetime.

Jim is lovingly survived by his wife: Sharon; children: Christopher (Brenda) of Oostburg and his daughters Morgan and Madison and step-son Michael; Gina Hoffman (William) of Lakeville, MN, and their children Haley, Jonah, and Lucas; Meggan Wingerter (John) of South Park, PA, and their children Benjamin, Thomas, Madeleine, and William; and Andrew of Onalaska; and his brother: Allan Mikula (Gail) of Marshfield. Dad will be truly missed.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Stephanie; as well as sister Virginia (Narlock).

The family wishes to thank the staff at Ascension at Home hospice care.

A memorial in Jim's name will be established at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions may be sent to Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home to be forwarded to the family.

"Whatever life for us may bring, though days be soft or stark,
And prompt to laugh or weep or sing, we etch a lasting mark."
Jim's legacy lives on in all of the lives he touched throughout his time on earth.
For all who knew him, he will be sorely missed and fondly remembered,
until our glorious reunion in heaven.
