June Winefred (Schmutzler) Behrens age 97, of Marshfield, passed away Saturday, January 03, 2015 at House of the Dove in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home.

June W. Schmutzler was born November 15. 1917 to Louis and May (Miller) Schmutzler in Clyman, Wisconsin. At two years old, her family moved to a farm in the town of Hull in the Cherokee area near Colby. She received her education from Cherokee County School until 8th grade and went to Colby High School for one year. She helped her dad with farming until she was 19 years old.

June was hired as a maid and baby sitter for Dr. and Mrs. George Hoyer in Beaver Dam, WI for over five years. She returned to Marshfield and was employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory for over 3 years. June and Ormond Behrens were joined in marriage on October 30, 1943. Ormond was discharged from the Army in 1945 and was rehired by Soo Line Railroad. June then was hired as a cook for a nine man building and bridge carpenter crew of the railroad for two years and last at Wisconsin Prepacked Cheese Co. until 62 years of age. She continued babysitting for local families in Marshfield after retirement. June enjoyed sewing and crocheting for family and friends.

June had one brother, Woodrow (Audrey) Schmutzler and one sister, Evelyn Schmutzler. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings. June was also preceded in death by her husband, Ormond, after 48 years of marriage. He died December 29, 1991.

June is survived by her children: Gerald (Judith) Behrens of Conroe, TX, Eileen (Fred) Wiesman of Stratford, Susan (Kenneth) Carolfi of Auburndale, and Jeffrey (Kathy) Behrens of Marshfield. She is further survived by her grandchildren: Julie (Scott) Ackley, Lisa (Gregory) Black, Renee (Dean) Guldan, Tammy (Jason) Schulte, Ryan (Tera) Wiesman, James (Tanya) Carolfi, Sarah (Keith) Polster, Nicole (Joshua) Cline, Joshua Behrens, and Tanya Vayda (Rodney Woald); and her nine great grandchildren: two great great grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, and one step great great grandchild.

June touched the hearts of everyone who knew her and will be sadly missed by all.

The Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home is assisting the Behrens family with funeral arrangements.

My husband, Joel Hanson has very found memories of June. She babysat him when he was a child and she was always kind and loving. He lived on Ash when he was young. He recieved a letter from her a few years ago with updates on her children and grandchildren. We are both very sad to hear of June's passing and our sympathy is with June's family. We are very sorry for your loss.
