Witt, Richard "Dick"

Richard F. Witt, age 74, of Rudolph, WI, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, surrounded by loving family and friends.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Rudolph. Father Mark Miller will officiate. Burial will take place at All Souls Cemetery in Rudolph. Military honors will be performed by the American Legion Post 485. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and Tuesday, October 4, 2016, from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services at the church. Richard was born June 30, 1942 to Frank and Julia (Mancl) Witt in Milladore, WI. He married Karlyn Jacob on July 30, 1966 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Rudolph. They were blessed with 50 years of marriage.

Richard graduated from Auburndale High School as a member of the class of 1960. After high school, he started working for the Wood County Highway Department. He went on to honorably serve his country in the United States Army. After his military service, he returned to the highway department, then worked at CW Transport Company, and completed his working career at Con-Way Trucking Company.

Currently, he was serving as a Rudolph Town Supervisor, the President of the Wood County Towns Association, and was a member of the Wood County Civil Service Commission. He was an active member of American Legion Post 485 in Rudolph, and a faithful member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, Brewer and Packer games, and spending time at the cabin in St. Germaine.

Richard is survived by his wife, Karlyn; siblings: Rose (Carl) Schaetz, Dorothy (Leroy) Spatz, Aggie Smazal, and Lydia Albert. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Julia Witt; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alvin and Leona Jacob; and a brother-in-law, Harold Jacob.
