O'Neil McIver "Mac" Crouch, Jr.

O'Neil McIver (Mac) Crouch, Jr., 84, won his victory over life to claim his Heavenly home on December 18, 2024. Born on November 8, 1940, in Martinsville, Va., Mac was preceded in death by his parents O'Neil McIver Crouch and Jackie Crouch. A man of deep faith, strong convictions, and a quick sense of humor, Mac was most at home on the golf course. In addition to his acumen as a golfer, he served as Golf Course Superintendent at Gaston Country Club from 1975-1984, Augusta Country Club from 1984-1994, and Old Town Country Club from 1994-2006. He was also an accomplished watercolor painter and enjoyed time in his yard, making sure that the grass and shrubbery were meticulous. A veteran of the US Navy, Mac was a family man who cherished the love of his life, Sandra, their two children Stefenie Duffie (Richard) of Gastonia, NC and O'Neil McIver Crouch, III (Denise) of Augusta, Ga., along with seven grandchildren, all of whom lovingly called their grandfather "MacMac." Mac, a member of First ARP Church, prayed daily for his family and friends, often quietly reaching out to those who needed a word of encouragement. His well-worn Bible is a testimony to a life well-lived in both the study of and application of the Word. McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia, NC, is serving the family. A private service will be held for the family to grieve the loss of Mac and celebrate his Homegoing The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Mac's memory be made to VIA Health Partners in appreciation for the team's professionalism and excellent care, with special thanks to Rev. Walt Windley for both his friendship and loving compassion for Mac and his family.
