Phillip Harrell Obituary

In Loving Memory of Phillip Marshal Harrell.
With heavy hearts, the family of Phillip Marshall Harrell shares his peaceful passing on Tuesday April 8 at the age of 87.
A lifelong resident of Martinsville, Phillip met his beloved wife, Sue Chapman Harrell, at Martinsville High School. They shared a devoted life together, and she continues to reside in their family home.
Phillip was part of the family behind Harrell's Food Store on the South Side, which is remembered for its personal service and community care. After attending Virginia Tech, he married and raised three children: David Harrell of Martinsville, Julia Harrell of Oregon, and Margaret Schaffer of Colorado. He was a proud grandfather to Tucker and Mya, the children of Margaret and her husband, Gary.
He spent his career as an accountant at American of Martinsville and its successor companies, known for his steady kindness and quiet strength. Phillip found joy in golf, family, and the simple goodness of everyday life. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Phil and I enjoyed many rounds of gold together. He had a very quiet nature and a wonderful sense of humor. He was a pleasure to be with. I know Sue and his family will miss him.
