Andrew Jorgensen Obituary

Andrew C. Jorgensen
1947 - 2023
Agawam
Andrew "Drew" Jorgensen passed away peacefully at his home in Agawam surrounded by his loving family on November 21, 2023. Drew was born on October 19, 1947, in Springfield, MA, to the late Andrew G. Jorgensen and Ethel (Munson) Jorgensen. After graduating from Springfield Technical High School in 1965, he went on to attend Western New England College (WNEC). He took a brief time off from college in 1968 to work with his brother-in-law, Ted Twarog, in Hartford, CT, until he received his military draft notice to report effective April 1, 1968. Drew trained at Fort Dix, NJ, and advanced training at Fort Lee, VA. After his training he received orders to go to Vietnam, but before departing, he married the girl next door and the love of his life, Susan (Mitchell) Jorgensen in July of the same year. He was assigned to the Army First Air Calvary and returned after one year to complete his three-year assignment at Fort Bliss, TX. He went back to WNEC and completed his Bachelor of Science and Master's Degrees in Accounting. Drew worked his entire career at MassMutual Life Insurance Company starting in the Accounting Division, and taking on several roles before moving to the Real Estate Investment Division. He loved bowling, softball, listening to 60's music, and coaching both Agawam Little League Baseball and Agawam Recreational Basketball. As a member at Springfield Country Club, golfing was one of his greatest passions and one he enjoyed sharing with his sons, son-in-law, and grandchildren.
Drew is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Susan Jorgensen, his three cherished children, Jennifer Moccio and her husband Steven; Eric Jorgensen and his wife Devin, and Todd Jorgensen and his wife Laura. He was blessed with, and very proud of, his eight grandchildren – Tyler, Joseph, Zachary and Sierra Moccio; Colin, Riley, Dylan and Cameron Jorgensen, all of whom lovingly referred to their grandfather as "Pop Andy". He adored every one of his grandchildren and had a very special bond with each of them, leaving behind memories that will last a lifetime.
He also leaves behind his sisters Carol Poulos and her husband Bob, Donna DeChristopher, as well as his sister-in-law Lynn Gagne and her husband Robert, his brother-in-law Walter Mitchell and his wife Susan, along with many nieces and nephews and dear friends and neighbors. He is predeceased by his parents, his sister Anna May Twarog and her husband Ted, and his niece Karen Twarog.
The family would like to thank all of Drew's caregivers, especially Dr. Gary Jacobson, Dr. Shaji Daniel, his hospice nursing team from Compassus, and Alex Bernard, his trusted caregiver from Chanda Care. A special thank you to Alice DiTomaso and Peggy Gacona for their gentle care when extra hands were needed. The kindness, compassion, and dedication provided helped the family through this very difficult journey. 'Thank You' cannot express their appreciation enough.
A funeral home service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 9:30AM at the Colonial-Forastiere Funeral & Cremation, 985 Main St., with a committal service and military honors to follow at 11AM in the MA. Veterans' Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 1390 Main St., both in Agawam.
Drew's family will receive relatives and friends at the visitation on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 4-7PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Drew's memory to Wounded Warrior Project (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org) or Tunnel to Towers Foundation (https://t2t.org).

Andy (and Sue) were the best stand in family a single mom could ask for..... loving and caring for my son on so many soccer trips, also cheering him on the baseball fields, and always having an open door policy.... Andy was the best stand in dad ever.... Thank you!
Much love and respect will forever be in my heart.....
