Elizabeth Gianfelice Obituary

Elizabeth A. Gianfelice
1960 - 2023
Wilbraham
Elizabeth A. Gianfelice, 63, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2023, surrounded by her beloved family. She was the devoted wife of James A. Gianfelice, with whom she shared almost 40 years of marriage.
Betsy, as she was affectionately called, was born in Fall River, MA and was the daughter of the late Richard Burt and Kathleen (Hinchcliffe).
Betsy was raised in Taunton, MA, attended Coyle Cassidy High School and continued her education at Westfield State College, where she received a bachelor's degree in psychology. She was employed as a systems analyst at The Wall Street Journal-Dow Jones until she changed careers in 2008, when she became a registered nurse, earning her associate's degree from Springfield Technical Community College. She began her nursing career at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield on the cardiovascular unit. Always ready for a new challenge, she later transferred to the fast-paced PACU, serving her patients with dignity, respect, and compassion. She would often use humor to soothe her patients' anxiety and discomfort. She retired from the PACU in 2022 but continued to hold great affection and esteem for her colleagues.
Betsy loved spending time in her kitchen, cooking delicious meals for her family. She cherished family vacations, long walks and dinners with her treasured friends, reading, going to the beach on Cape Cod, shopping, and going to Patriots games. Most of all, Betsy adored her three grandchildren. Known as "Nana," she was an amazing and dedicated babysitter and never missed special moments in their lives. To everyone who knew her, Betsy will be remembered as a smart, generous, strong, beautiful woman with a wonderful, infectious laugh and sense of humor, who was always willing to help others.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her sons, James R. Gianfelice and his wife Amanda of Wrentham, MA and Daniel F. Gianfelice and his wife Allison of Bellingham, MA; siblings Karen P. Kawa and her husband Paul of Mansfield, MA, Richard F. Burt and his wife Pamela of West Hartford, CT and Suzanne E. Murray of North Attleboro, MA; grandchildren Charlotte, Sophia, Parker, and Parker's soon to be little brother; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 from 4-7 PM at Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow, MA.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Betsy will be held at 10AM on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Saint Cecilia Church, 42 Main Street, Wilbraham, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A private burial will be held at the convenience of her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 200 Vesey Street, 28th Floor, New York, NY 10281 or at jdrf.org. For online condolences please visit www.forastiere.com.

Jimmy, I am so sorry and in shock to hear of Betsy´s passing. My deepest sympathy and prayers go out to you and your family! I met Betsy as you know at Dow Jones and became quick friends. I loved that we shared a baby shower from our friends there. Her laugh was the best and was jealous of her beautiful curly hair! Even though our lives were busy and hadn´t seen her in a while, I thought of her often. Once again, my deepest sympathy for you and your family. Heidi Payeur
