Southwick
Leandra Fonti DiDomenico, 90, wife of the late Carmello DiDomenico, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2025. Born in Calabria, Italy, she emigrated to the United States with courage and determination. She worked many years as a seamstress at Kinsler Coats in Springfield and was admired for her skill, work ethic, and devotion to family.
Leandra enjoyed gardening, cooking, and caring for her grandchildren. Her famous frise, baked and hardened bread softened with water and topped with olive oil and tomatoes, will forever be a family favorite. She is remembered with love by her son, John A. DiDomenico and his wife Karen, her grandchildren Anthony and Matthew DiDomenico, and her many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may gather on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 10:00AM to 12:00 NOON at Forastiere Family Funeral & Cremation, 45 Locust Street, Springfield, followed by a service at 12:00PM. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Baystate Noble Hospital, 115 West Silver Street, Westfield, MA 01085.

Auntie Yolanda you were always very special to me. I remember sleepovers and being afraid to sleep in that bedroom of the living room. Spending weeks with you at Soundview. You trying to get me to drink espresso. So many fond memories. I will miss you! Love you

I could never forget the memories of Sleepover time with Johnny, Joe M, and myself,playing upstairs in the attic,avoiding the holes in the floor, then all 3 into the tub with the Yellow/Gold bar of Dail soap. only to then enjoy Dough boys, Black cured olives, Lupini Beans and for our special treat, Auntie Youlie would give us a hand full of Brioschi. And the days at the beach, where she would still have on her Apron, making Bread, cleaning and cooking fresh fish that Uncle Malo just landed, and our nightly walks for Italian ice, I will miss you forever, R.I.P Auntie.

I have so many fond memories of auntie Yolanda. A few of my favorites are the grape vines growing in the back yard, the pasta machine and clotheslines up in the attic, teaching her to write English while she taught me Italian. Picking up snails on the beach every summer to go back and cook at the cottage. She was special. And I am going to miss her dearly.
