Albert Kaspar Obituary

"> Albert J. Kaspar M.D.
Albert J. Kaspar M.D., 75, died May 21 in his home. Kaspar was a highly regarded physician at Easton Hospital for more than three decades, serving as founding partner of Easton Cardiovascular Associates and as a respected lecturer to the hospitals medical students and attending physicians. He was never more comfortable than when he had a pen in hand and said, Okay, this is a healthy heart... to start a lecture around the dinner table. Kaspar graduated from St. Josephs University, earned a masters degree from Fordham University and earned his medical degree from Georgetown University. He trained at Hahnemann Hospital before coming to Easton. Kaspar and his wife traveled the world together with their children. He never tired of regaling friends and family with tales from their far-flung adventures and his plans for future trips. An accomplished trumpeter and music buff. He and his wife traveled regularly with friends to the Metropolitan Opera and may have started the opera worlds only pre-performance tailgate parties. Kaspar bought a cabin on Lake Wallenpaupack, primarily because he bought a boat first and needed a place to store it. He and his family welcomed generations of new friends to share the cabin and enjoy the clean air, swimming, boating and the occasional massive restoration project. He always had a joke to tell, sometimes more than once, and never turned down someone in need. He will be missed by all. He was a member of the Saucon Valley Country Club and numerous medical associations. Survivors: Wife, Louise Brany Kaspar; son, Marc of Miami Beach, FL; daughter, Paula Chmiel and her husband David of South Orange, NJ; brother, John of Lake Havasu, AZ; and two grandchildren, Zachary and Luke Chmiel. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Ashton Funeral Home, Easton. Call 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Contributions: to the Two Rivers Health and Wellness Foundation, 1101 Northampton St., Easton, PA 18042.

To the Kaspar family: My deepest sympathy. My heart is saddened. I worked at EH for over 30 years and remember seeing Dr. Kaspar many times during the day. He always had time to stop and say hi to me. He would always ask about my boys. He will be missed. Thank you Dr. Kaspar for always being upbeat and positive.

Al was like a second father to me while I was growing up. He always had time to tease Paula and I about our adventures and will be world famous for his "Al-bear" salads! While I haven't seen him in a long while, I will surely miss him. I really wish I could be there to honour such a warm, caring and most of all, fun man.
