Our Back Pages
I recently said good-bye to one of my cousins David Kirk (Kink as some knew him by). I found a commonality between Kink, I and Allan Hunger and many more. We were all members of a unique group of kids. I called the Pine Tree Park family. All of us came from good homes and family values. The lessons we learned as children had a lot to do with the way Allan grew up. He had deep respect for Nature especially fishing.
I talked to him several times at the VA meetings. I remembered that he didn't like coming because they talked about the war. One of the things I liked about him was he didn't brag or make up stories about his experiences like some do. As time goes by the stories get longer and more intense. Allan didn't strike me as one of those people. I could go on and on about the meaning of our lives but it was better said in the book of Ecclesiastes. A time to be born A time to die A time to laugh and a time to weep A time of war a time of Peace A time for every purpose under heaven.
Going back to Pine Tree Park who could forget the mermaid of the pool swimmer, diver all around cutie Donna Heimbach.
So it is time to say good-bye to a wonderful person.
