Drew was kindhearted and loyal--he went out of his way to provide encouragement and support throughout our friendship. I must have met him at the Van Dyke skatepark in Fairfax, VA around 2004, likely when he was still in school at GMU. He tried to help me get jobs when I was un- or underemployed and he was there for me when I was struggling with relationships and he didn’t judge my bad decisions and would listen to me gripe. I joined him on a bunch of fun skateboard trips that he planned out all over the Mid-Atlantic states and we would skate regularly at skateparks all over the DC area. He clearly loved bringing people together and making sure they were enjoying themselves. He had a refreshing purity and sincerity about him and he talked and wrote in a funny and quirky yet endearing way which set him apart from other people and made him hard to define. He was smart and insightful and he was a great listener and empathizer. He's one of the few friends I always felt like I could trust and count on. Even if I didn't see him for a while it was easy to pick up where we left off. He and I would trade photos or video clips of our sons (Charlie bike riding) and our halfpipes and talk about new skateparks--I know he was proud of his sons and their progression in life. I will certainly miss Drew and all of his good ways and hope people realize what a wonderful person he was.
