Daniel Hess Obituary
Survivors: In addition to his wife, Carla; sons, Keith D. Hess and his wife, Judy, Kraig D. Hess and his wife, Janelle; grandchildren, Madison, Ryan, Connor, and Mackenzie.
Service: Private memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family. No public calling hours. Interment will follow the service at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., in Schnecksville is in charge of arrangements. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at www.heinzelmancares.com.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made made to Relevant Church of Allentown and/or Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown Scottish Rite both in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box #196, Schnecksville, PA 18078-0196.

Mr. Hess was such an important and positive influence on my life. He was an excellent wood worker and a patient teacher, but his greatest gift was his caring guidance and life lessons he shared with many young men and women. Condolences to you, Carla, Keith, Craig and families. Dan and I worked side by side for 10 years at Parkland High. He was always looking for a good joke or a jab from buddies. He ALWAYS had the welfare of his students front and center, and was notorious for reaching out to those in need....student or teacher. I will always remember him as one whose moral compass guided his decisions without wavering. Thank you Dan, for the great years and the guidance you gave me as a "new teacher."

Dan and I were classmates at Tamaqua junior and senior high schools (and neighbors in Hometown). I was something of a nerd in junior high, often teased and sometimes bullied. I met Dan for the first time when some other students were making fun of me and itching to fight. Dan intervened and put a stop to it in short order. I was amazed that this tall athlete took an interest in my welfare. From that point on, we were fast friends through the remainder of our school years. I've never forgotten Danny's looking out for me. To this day, I remain grateful for his high moral character and his friendship at a time I truly needed it.

Carla and Family,
Hard to believe since we just talked recently.
Dan has been in and out of my life since we
were both in preschool Sunday School classes
and both in the Class of THS 1957. We spent
a lot of time planning the last few reunions
on the committee. Our whole class will miss
Dan and appreciated his Treasurer help for
all the years since the 50th. If Dan and
Carla had not been there it would not have
seemed like old home town weekend. May all
your happy memories sustain your family and

Dan was such a great guy. He was more than the father of my friend Keith, he was a guy that you liked to hang out with in his own right, which we did more than once. Always good for a laugh and friendly advice. His family's loss is our loss, and my deepest sympathy to the whole Hess family.

Dan was a dear friend from church. We were close with he and Carla. They came to our home and we would often go out to eat with them and another couple from church. He was one of my biggest encouragers as I lead worship at Relevant Church. Most Sundays He (and his wife) would say how much he enjoyed the songs. He would often be whistling the tune of one of the songs at the end of the service (before the sermon was even over ). He was down to earth and very spirited with strong opinions. Scott (my husband) and he were similar that way and they had a special friendship. He taught woodworking at a high school for many years and loved to share stories about that. He will be missed dearly
