Daniel Tantaros Obituary
Daniel K. Tantaros, son, brother, friend, and angel on earth passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born in Allentown, PA on December 12, 1981 at the same hospital he left us, Daniel filled many hearts with joy during his 31 years on earth. Though his condition characterized him as special needs - the word most fitting to describe Daniel was uniquely special. Daniel taught everyone who knew him more important life lessons than anyone could ever teach him: humility, loyalty, love, kindness and gentleness. Just being around him made you want to be a better person and helped put in perspective what really matters in life. He didnt get caught up in lifes petty squabbles or gossip, material goods or vanity, and never complained no matter how hard life was for him. Instead, Daniel remained positive and pure as he worked hard each day at First Niagara Bank (formerly known as East Penn Bank) along side his best friend and teacher, Greg Glosan. Daniel also volunteered at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church. In his career, Daniel was also employed by The Morning Call delivery and K-Mart, as well as Borders, where he was responsible for magazine organization. As a reward, Dan was allowed to read his favorite magazine, Architectural Digest. He had a love of classical music, especially Mozart, of animals and a love of pasta or a warm stack of pancakes. He kept everyones deepest secrets, because you knew you could trust him. Dan would never tell. He embodied a golden and pure heart, set an example for everyone whose life he touched and left an enormous void in the lives of everyone who knew him. Survivors: He is survived by his mother, Barbara A. Tantaros of Emmaus; brother, Dean A. Tantaros and his wife, Magda, of Center Valley; sisters, Thea M. Tantaros of Emmaus and Andrea K. Tantaros of Manhattan; as well as his dearest friend and teacher, Gregory Glosan of Northampton. Daniel is also survived by his nephews, Andreas K. Tantaros, Vasilis A. Tantaros; niece, Alexia B. Tantaros. He was also predeceased by his father, Konstantinos A. Tantaros. Services: Services will be held on Monday, August 26, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, 1151 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown, PA. Calling hours from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Funeral arrangements are by the John F. Herron Funeral Home, Bethlehem. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Daniel K. Tantaros may be made to The Coplay House of Lifepath, Inc.

I am trying to wrap my head around this sad news. For days I have thought about the times I was with him at your home, at the diner, when he made the trip here to NY...camping no less. Simply he was a sweet boy who was dearly loved and cared for. Barb, you championed his strengths, giving him the chance to be all that he could be. Blessings to a beautiful family. As I grow older I ask more often this question. What is the meaning of life? And as I have been taught, and do believe, the answer is to render service and compassion to those in need. While I was not fortunate enough to know Danny I do know some of his family and also had the privelage at his service today to listen to and meet some of his caregivers. And not satisified with my original answer I thought more deeply still about my question. I knew an answer was in there somehwere. And then a fresh insight arrived. GOD Himself uses angels such as Danny to permit some of us to extract from deep within an unlimited amount of love that left alone without impetus might not surface, might never rise to the occasion. Such magnificent caregivers then in their own way become a becon of hope where there is despair, an example of all the best mankind has to offer to each other. But it is through the teacher, in this case Danny, that the student, the caregiver hones his or her GOD given ability. Without Danny there is no lesson and much less hope for a perilous world. So thank you GOD for the gift of Danny and calling his family and friends to task and allowing them to shine and set forth such a wonderful example of all that mankind can become.

Dear Tantaros family and Greg,
My heart sank when I saw precious Danny's picture. I feel blessed by having known Danny and witnessing his relationship with Greg, every day I worked at EPB Operations center and had the pleasure of a "high five" from Danny as they came and left their day of work. Some days Greg had to encourage him a little more than others, but it was always such a blessing. It has been several years since the change to Harleysville and many of us losing our jobs there, but I will forever remember Danny's smile, and the love that he shared with Greg. Thinking of Danny no longer having the restrictions that his body gave him here on earth, and him smiling and "high fiving" in heaven brings joy to my heart. Nothing will replace the emptiness and loss you all feel now, but pray the hope of seeing him again one day is of some comfort. God Bless each of you.
