Doris M. Erb
Doris M. Erb, 84, of Bethlehem, passed away Monday, November 6, 2006 in the VNA Hospice of St. Lukes, Lower Saucon Township. She was the wife of the late Louis H. Erb, who died in 1991. Born in Elizabeth, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Marguerite (Martin) Norris. She was a 1940 graduate of Union (N.J.) High School and a 1944 graduate of Orange Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a private duty nurse and previously was a nurse at Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pompton Plains, N.J. Doris was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Bethlehem, where she was a lay Eucharist minister, usher, lay reader, Sunday school teacher and greeter and was involved in social ministry. She was a member of the Senior Centers of Bethlehem and served on the advisory committee for five years and was named Volunteer of the Year in 2005. She was past president of the Lutheran Church Women; volunteer for Lutheran Services of the Lehigh Valley; member of the Lehigh Southside Boosters of Bethlehem, and member of the Pennsylvania Jazz Society. Survivors: Sons, Edward N. Allen Jr. and his wife, Suzanne, of Cream Ridge, N.J., Robert D. Allen and his wife, Cathy, of Delanson, N.Y.; daughters, Catherine M. Rokoski and her husband, Michael, of Quakertown and Carol J. Covino and her husband, Carmine, of Clifton, N.J.; stepson, L. Barry Erb; eight grandchildren, a great-granddaughter. Doris was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys N. Traina, and brother, Frederick Norris. Services: A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 514 Third Ave., Bethlehem. Arrangements entrusted to the Long Funeral Home.
