Edna R. Himmler

1939 - 2022

Edna Rose Himmler, 82, a lifelong resident of Allentown, passed away at Cornerstone Living facility in New Tripoli, PA on July 12, 2022. Born on September 16, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Rose (Deutsch) Himmler who emigrated from the Burgenland section of Austria in the early 1920s. She was pre-deceased by two brothers; Rudolph in 2011 and William in 2010; sister, Rose (Himmler) Kurtz in 2021 and two nephews; William Jr. and Michael Himmler in 1974. A 1957 graduate of Allentown High School, she began working for PP&L during her senior year in high school and worked for the company for over 35 years. She transitioned to another career at Air Products until the time of her retirement. Edna enjoyed the outdoors and participated in cross-country skiing, kayaking, and hiking. She was a long-time member of the Allentown Hiking Club and served as their Hiking Schedule Coordinator until 2016. She was proud of her Austrian heritage and attended local church events and picnics. She also volunteered at Musikfest.

Survivors: She is survived by four nieces; Kay Kurtz of Allentown, Karen (Kurtz) Duggan of Coopersburg, Christine (Himmler) Valone of Knightdale, NC, Julie (Kurtz) Chittick of Phoenixville; great-nieces, Kara (Duggan) Moyer, Ellie (Chittick) Dilworth; and great-nephews, Ryan Duggan, Michael, Curtis and Marcus Valone and Evan Chittick.

Services: Services 2 PM Saturday July 16, at Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th & Hamilton Streets, Allentown. A viewing from 1- 2 PM Saturday in the funeral home.

Donations: In lieu of flowers donations to Peaceable Kingdom in Whitehall or The Sanctuary at Haafsville in Breinigsville, PA.
