Ernest H. Wetzel
Ernest H. Wetzel, 75, of N. Kemp St., Kutztown, died February 2, 2006 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading, where he was a patient since January 5, 2006. He was the husband of Jean A. (Sunday) Wetzel. They were married September 8, 1951. Born January 9, 1931 in Allentown, Pa., he was a son of the late George C. and the late Alma (Warmkessel) Wetzel. He was a self employed contractor for many years until his retirement in 1993. In addition, he owned and operated the former Wetzels Snowmobile and Lawn and Garden Shop, Kutztown, starting in 1973. He first worked as a self employed dairy farmer in Greenwich Township, Berks County, for many years. He was a member of Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Kutztown. He was a church council member at the former Dunkels Church, Kutztown. He was a member of the former Greenwich Township auxiliary police. He was a life member of the Sliding Dutchman Snowmobile Club, Kutztown, and served as president during the 1970s. He was a member of both Kutztown and Virginville fire companies. He was a 60-year member of Virginville Grange, a member of Kempton Rod & Gun Club and a member of the former Virginville Lions Club. Survivors: Wife; daughters, Janice L. (Wetzel), wife of Kenneth L. Clemmer, Eileen J. (Wetzel), wife of Troy E. Adam, and Carol J. (Wetzel), wife of Martin C. Wolfinger, all of Kutztown; son, Jeffrey D., husband of Cynthia L. (Epting) Wetzel, of Kutztown. In addition he is survived by sisters, Ruth (Wetzel) Ebert of Breinigsville, Anna (Wetzel), wife of Howard Sechler, of Allentown, Pauline (Wetzel) Seidel, wife of Claude Reichelderfer, of Mertztown and Sandra (Wetzel), wife of Tom Sylvester, of Alburtis; brothers, Edward Wetzel of Allentown and Alfred Wetzel of Mertztown. He is also survived by grandchildren, Angel M. (Adam) Zimmerman; Allison C. (Wetzel) Smolinsky, Coleen C. (Adam) Crills, Jaimee L. (Wetzel) Stemko, Ashly R. Adam, Tyler C. and Avery M. Wolfinger; great-grandchildren, Alexis C. Stemko, Macy L. Zimmerman, Owen P. and Gracie L. Stemko, twin boys, Jacob C. and Lucas G. Zimmerman, and Colby M. Crills. He was predeceased by a brother, Kermit Wetzel, and a sister, Barbara (Wetzel) Dorsey. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 1343 Long Lane Road, Kutztown. Interment in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call 7-8:30 p.m. Monday in Ludwick Funeral Home, 333 Greenwich St., Kutztown, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Contributions: Mount Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1343 Long Lane Road, Kutztown, 19530.
