Fern J. Taney

1930 - 2023

Fern Jean ( Andress) Taney, daughter of the late Ward and Leola (Finagle) Andress passed peacefully in her home in Mountaintop, PA on October 30th, 2023. Originally of Wapwallopen, PA, she was born on November 2, 1930. We are thankful to have had almost 93 years with her, though she would have been appalled we knew her age.

Lively and strong-willed as ever to her last days, we are shocked she did not outlast fate through sheer force of will. However, we take comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband, the late George Taney, to whom she was married since August 19th, 1950. We have a lifetime of wonderful memories of trips to the Delaware seashore, the best pumpkin pies, card games, casino trips and endless conversations over whisky, wine, or coffee.

Fern is survived by her daughter Gloria Taney of Mountaintop; her son Randal Taney and wife Linda of Emmaus and her daughter Lisa Kemmerer (Taney) and husband Karl of Mountaintop. Fern was also blessed by four grandchildren Michael Taney, David Taney, Karl C Kemmerer and Amanda Kotzian as well as her eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Fern was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Jane Taney; her sisters: Geraldine Izzo, Olive Faux and Nora Cybulski; and her brothers: Donald Andress and Ward Andress Jr.

She made lifelong friends through her employment at RCA in Mountaintop, PA for 24 years, and later the Crestwood School District for 10 years. Fern was also a trained nail technician from Joe Mar Beauty School.

Whether you called her Mom, Gram, Aunt, or friend, we are blessed to have had her in our lives as long as we did, yet it still isn't long enough. We miss and love you.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10am in the Emmanuel UCC Church in Dorrance. Interment will follow in the congregation's cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6-8pm at McCune Funeral Home, Mountain Top.
