Gourniak, Florentine R.Florentine R. (Steckel) Gourniak, 91, of Ormrod, died Tuesday November 25, 2014 in her home. She was the wife of the late Michael J. Gourniak. Born in North Whitehall Township, September 24, 1923, Florentine was the daughter of the late Lewis L.W. Steckel, Jr. and Jennie M.A. (Stettler) Steckel. She was employed as a sewing machine operator at the former Cross Country Clothes, Northampton for 10 years before retiring. Florentine was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Northampton. Survivors: Son, James M. Gourniak, Sr. at home; daughter, Jane E. Smith-Decker and her husband, Conrad of Millersburg; sister, Dorothy A. Blank of Wall Township, NJ; grandsons, James M. Gourniak Jr. and Rahn M. Smith; predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Gourniak and a sister, Shirley J. Warmkessel. Services: Divine Liturgy will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 1343 Newport Avenue, Northampton, with the Very Rev. Archpriest David Clooney officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 7 - 8:30 pm. Monday and 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville. Interment will follow the Divine Liturgy in the parish cemetery.
