George Viti Obituary

George S. Viti, 95, of Allentown, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on November 14, 2023.
Born in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania on August 30, 1928, George was the son of Sam and Gonda Viti, Italian immigrants who proudly came to this country to create a new foundation for their family. George served honorably in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Air Force Band. He received a degree in Business Administration from Bloomsburg University and was a successful corporate executive before starting his retail shoe business, George's Shoes, in Allentown, PA in 1968. For thirty years, George's Shoes, located a half block from Hess' department store, was a preeminent boutique destination for families in the Lehigh Valley. George was awarded the Downtown Allentown Spirit Award "in recognition of the true entrepreneur and his commitment to the economic growth and vitality of the central business district" of the City of Allentown.
George was married to his beloved wife, Theresa, for almost 64 years and they had two children, Kim Viti Fiorentino, Esquire and Craig Viti, MD – who were his pride and joy.
He was dashing and charismatic and traveled the world with his wife and always enjoyed meeting new people, learning about new cultures and making new friends. George was a connoisseur of world affairs and a master of sudokus.
George enjoyed his wife's magnificent cooking, wine time, the company of friends and treasured his beloved family.
George is survived by his wife, Theresa; his daughter, Kim, son-in-law Lou Fiorentino and grand goddaughter Sarah Yaklic; and his son, Craig, daughter-in-law Jane Viti and two beloved grandchildren Jack and Lilyia of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The viewing will be held at The Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena from 9:00-10:00 AM on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 1825 W Turner St, Allentown, with a funeral Mass following at 10:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in George's name may be sent to his church, The Cathedral of Saint Catharine of Siena in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Theresa and Family,
We send our prayers to all of you. We knew George for many years as fellow merchants in Allentown. He was kind and always friendly. We also bought all our 3 children's shoes from his shoe store for many years.

God of all consolation, in your unending love and mercy, you turn the darkness of death into the dawn of new life. Hear us, we pray, on behalf of your child George, who was called out of this earthly life. Welcome him into eternal life to dwell with you and all the saints in your heavenly city of light and joy.
Look also with love upon George´s wife Theresa, his daughter Kim and son Craig, and all his family, friends and others who mourn his passing. You gave us Jesus to help us rise triumphant over death, sorrow and pain. Be their refuge and strength now; lift them from this grief and graciously grant them peace and consolation. Amen.
