Grace Y. Samson
Grace Y. Samson, 93, formerly of Wind Gap, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, in Gracedale, Upper Nazareth Township. She was born July 16, 1912, in Easton, Pa., the eldest child of the late John C. Sr. and Catherine (Masler) Yankus. She graduated from Wilson Area High School in 1930. She was a 1934 graduate of Drexel University. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Wind Gap, Pa. She taught school for 34 years. She began her teaching career at Lake Consolidate School, Lake Ariel, Pa., and retired from Pen Argyl High School in 1977. She was a life member of Harriet Green Chapter 198, Order of the Eastern Star, Moscow, Pa. She was the widow of George D. Samson, who passed away in 1976. After retiring from teaching, Grace enjoyed traveling to many foreign countries. Her favorite pastimes were reading, baking and playing cards, especially bridge. Survivors: Daughter, Marjorie Fredlund and her husband Al of Delta, Colo.; sons, Bruce and his fiancee Darla of Wind Gap; daughter-in-law, Paulette Samson of Tannersville; grandchildren, Catherine Fredlund and Scott Fredlund, both of Delta, Colo., Christine Fredlund of Eclectic, Alaska, Jennifer Samson Acker of Bethlehem, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Darin Fredlund. She was preceded in death by a son, George, in 1967, and brothers, Frank and John. Services: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2006, in the church, 19 W. West St., Wind Gap. A private burial of her ashes will take place in Easton Cemetery. The Schmidt Funeral Home, Wind Gap, is in charge of the arrangements.
