Henrietta Long Obituary
Henrietta E. Long, 96, of Allentown, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012, in St. Lukes Hospital, Allentown. She was born in Allentown, a daughter of the late John S. and Marguerite K. (Weiss) Long. Henrietta taught elementary school for 43 years in the Saucon Valley School District. She also assisted with the former Long Funeral Home in Red Hill. She graduated Kutztown College in 1938 and was a member of the Lehigh County Retired Teachers Association and held life memberships in the National Public Education and Pennsylvania State Public Educations. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Allentown. Survivors: Niece, nephew, and two great-nephews. A brother James W. predeceased her. Services: 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 14, 2012 at Trexler Funeral Home 1625 Highland St., Allentown. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery. Miss Long taught my son at Saucon Valley that if he read books he could "go anywhere, do anything, and be anyone" by letting the story take him away. It made a great impression! He is now a teacher. She made a difference!
