Jerome Y. Neff, 88, of Allentown, died peacefully at home on May 15, 2013. Jerome was born in Allentown, where he resided for most of his life. He graduated from Allentown High School in 1941, then pursued a business degree at Lehigh University, remaining a loyal Lehigh football fan throughout his life. As a member of The Greatest Generation, Jerome served in the Armys 29th Infantry during World War II, landing on Omaha beach on Day 2 of the invasion. Following his service, he embarked on a career selling insurance and later as a sales representative with Universal Furniture, retiring (much too early, according to his wife) in 1993. Well known around Allentown, Jerome was a longtime member of Temple Beth El and could be found at places such as the JCC and The Trivet restaurant, making friends wherever he went. All who knew Jerome will miss his character, warmth, humor, and commentary. Survivors: A devoted family man, Jerome is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Norma G. (Kramer) Neff; adoring children, Debi Ford of Highland Park, IL, Amy (John) Citarella of Orefield, PA, and David (Sharon) Neff of Prospect Heights, IL; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harry and Diana Neff. Services: Graveside at 2 p.m., Sunday, Beth El Memorial Park, Whitehall.
