Dear Bob,
I remember Jerry, you & Sammy Weiss so well. Jerry was the first boy to steal a kiss. It was a surprise when the kids in the neighborhood were playing hide and seek. Have thought of you both over the years.

One of my childhood friends. I lived across the alley in Kistler Row on Third Street and think of Jerry and his Mother often. I wished we could have seen each other when we "grew up."
Thinking of you,

I remember Jerome very well and hearing about his loss while in college in Philadelphia.
I too have visited him on the Wall among others there I have known. Blessings from my home in Hawaii and a heart full of gratitude for his sacrifice.

Dear Bob, I had the oportunity to play baseball from knee hi to high school years, playing against both you and playing together with you and Jerry on some all star teams.
I can never forget my seniior year at AHS when I pitching a no hitter for 5 2/3 inning (in those years we played 9 inning) when Jerry came up and drove a ball into the gap for a stand up double. When I got the ball back, I looked at Jerry and saw this big smile, as to say, gotta buddy. He was an outstanding baseball and football player. If I ever wanted for someone be a teammate, it would have beem Jerry.
Bob, in last three years, I have lost two of my older brothers. They never leave your heart,as I can see that Jerry never left your heart since Jan 16, 1967.

Jerry and I were members of the LHS class of "65", though we did not travel in the same circles. I am grateful to be remembering him this day but let us not forget the other member of the LHS class of "65" who also lost their lives in Vietnam: Anthony Belletti, Richard Lynn, Jack
Derrico and Michael Yartmyk. They are not forgotten!

Although we have never met, the story I'm about to share is very true and I am extremely humbled and moved to be relating it to Jerome's family. I visited The Wall in DC for the very first time back in 2010,accompanied by my son,a Marine Corps Sgt.and veteran of Afghanistan, his first visit as well.We both agreed that in order for our Wall visit to have "meaning" for us, we would need to "connect" with a soldier there, but we knew of no one.We decided to go to the Wall directory to see if we could find a boy with a hometown from the Lehigh Valley, this would be our soldier, this would bring meaning to our visit. We scanned several pages and there we found Bethlehem,PA, and our soldier's name, Jerome Zerfass. As we walked the Wall, looking for Jerome, the emotion was overpowering, and when we reached Jerome's name, my son and I both broke into tears.Since that time, we have been to the Wall on many many occassions, since my son now works in DC and we visit quite often. And I just want you to know that we always stop at Jerome"s name to say a silent prayer for him and his family and to thank him for his sacrifice. And although we have never met, I feel very blessed to be able to tell your family that your loved one Jerome, is our Wall Angel. May he always feel near to you in your hearts.

Condolences to the family....I knew Jerry from the old hood in Catty. Many found memories of Him and Bob teaching me how to play football the first time, on the lawn of the hotel across the street. It was Jerry who gave me my first black eye.[by accident]. I was so proud to see his success as an athlete. I have miss him dearly.
