I knew Jerry very well growing up mostly in the same neighborhood. He was a talented athlete and was a highly regared teamate of mine in the 1963 season. As a halfback he was adroit at spinning out of tacklers arms for extra yardage....and he could shoot pool with the best of them. Jerry was always upbeat and would always greet you with a smile.

I was Jerry´s English teacher at Liberty High School and will never forget the last journey around the football field with the whole school watching. I touch his name whenever I´m in Washington at the memorial. Our students become our sons and daughters, especially those we lose.

A job well done fellow Vietnam Veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. Taps has now sounded and the last volley fired with the last salute rendered, you are now relieved from your post. A Navy Vietnam Veteran.
