Joan Ethel Rhoads, 74, of Lehighton passed away, surrounded by her family, in the early hours of Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Hospice Center of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH. She was the wife of George Rhoads for 54 years. Born in Lehighton she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Marion (Thamarus) Weaver. She was a 1953 graduate of Lehighton Area High School. Joan was a clerk for the Borough of Lehighton, a bank teller for Peoples Bank, Lehighton, and worked for Scottys Fashions and Toms Sportswear, both of Lehighton, until her retirement. She was an active member of Zion United Church of Christ, Lehighton, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, Lehighton. Survivors: Husband Children, Sue R. wife of Harry Procina of Lehighton, Sandy Rhoads of Cincinnati, OH & Steve Rhoads husband of Cindy of Saylorsburg; Sister, Edith Zellers of Granville, IL; four wonderful Grandchildren, Jason Moulthrop husband of Eliza of Toronto, Ontario, Jamie wife of Robert Walck of Lehighton, Nathaniel Rhoads of Saylorsburg and Jacob Mortensen of Cincinnati, OH; and several Nieces & Nephews. Predeceased by Brothers, George Weaver and Raymond Heiser; and a Sister, Marie Weaver. Service: Funeral Service Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ 2nd & Iron Streets Lehighton, PA with Reverend Allen Heckman officiating.
