John Groller Obituary

John J. Groller Jr.
John J. Mooney Groller Jr., 69 years, of Catasauqua, died surrounded by his loving family in his residence on Monday, August 15, 2005. He was the former husband of Alice (Hildebrand) Groller of Catasauqua. Born in Whitehall, he was the son of the late John J. Groller Sr. and Margaret (Madea) Groller. He worked in the maintenance department of the Allentown State Hospital for more than 20 years before retiring. He was in the Marine Corps during the Korean and Vietnam wars. John was a dedicated teacher in the Childrens Karate Club of the Allentown State Hospital and held a second degree black belt. Survivors: With his former wife is a daughter, Valerie Kern of Catasauqua; sisters, Dorothy Weiner, Margaret Groller and Irene Vidumsky; two grandchildren, Adrianne and Trinity Kern. He was preceded in death by a baby son, and a brother, George. Services: will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the John H. Brubaker Funeral Home, 234 Walnut Street, Catasauqua. Call 10-11 a.m. Thursday. Contributions: May be made to Salem United Church of Christ, 615 Third Street, Catasauqua 18032.

I worked with Mooney at Allentown State Hospital. We are also distantly related. He will be missed. My deepest sympathy to his daughter and his grand children, whom he spoke highly of.
