John Hauck Obituary

John George Hauck, 94, a member of "The Greatest Generation", passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 25, 2018 in Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth, PA. Born June 19, 1923 and raised in Hillside, NJ, he served in NROTC at Stevens Institute of Technology Hoboken, NJ and graduated as a BSME 1945 with a commission as LTJG US Navy. John married his former high school classmate, Marian Louise Conran on November 5, 1949. He obtained his MS ME from Stevens Institute under the GI Bill. John was a plant maintenance engineer at the Standard Oil/Exxon Refinery in Linden, NJ before striking out on his own, founding his own industrial water treatment business, Associated Water Conditioner's, Inc. John and his family lived in Scotch Plains, Westfield and New Vernon, NJ for over 40 years before moving to Nazareth, PA. John loved new gadgets and installed the first garage door opener in the neighborhood that went up and down whenever planes interfered with the electronics. Over the years, he obtained his HAM radio operator's license and insurance broker's license. He enjoyed playing the piano, organ and took up beekeeping and gardening. John volunteered at Mother Theresa's soup kitchen in Newark, NJ and counted the weekly church collection. He took the family camping, made gallons and gallons of pea soup and traveled extensively in retirement with his wife, Marian. John lived his life fully, putting his Roman Catholic faith and his family first. He connected with people of diverse backgrounds and had a legendary sense of humor. John enriched the lives around him, and his spirit lives on in the lives he touched. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, Kathryn C. Hauck, of Bath, John G. Hauck, Jr. and companion Brenda Aldi, of Blairstown, Barbara A. Hauck, of Philadelphia, Lisa M. Hauck and husband Paul Borkovich, of Los Angeles, four grandchildren, Emily, Daniel, George and Nicholas. He also leaves behind numerous cousins and their families. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Jean Margaret Lee and an infant son Frederick Ernest Hauck. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Moravian Hall Square, and home caregiver Maria Frank, for their dedication and loving care. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 28, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 410 West Center Street, Nazareth, PA 18064. Calling hours will be Friday (tonight) from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Joseph F. Reichel Funeral Home Inc., 220 Washington Park, Nazareth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Appreciation Fund at Moravian Hall Square, c/o the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered at www.jfreichelfuneralhome.com.

Sir John, my birthday buddy. I remember the wonderful jokes you'd share with me when I'd call your house to speak with Bonnie during the years she was caring for you. I know you will be greatly missed by your family and my love goes out to all of you.

Mr. Hauck was our neighbor and have such vivid memories of his playing the organ and piano with such gusto! He was a true inspiration for me to play the piano--which I did learn to play.
He also had a most amazing sense of humor, that his daughter, Barbara, has as well!

I have such fond memories of him and his wife and will be offering my prayers to him and the family at my meditation center!

Many blessings and Grace to the family!

With fond and heartfelt memories!

Lisa, I am so sorry for the passing of you Father. I know the past weeks have been difficult for the entire family. I know how much you all loved your Dad. He is now watching over you from heaven. No more pain or suffering. A beautiful guardian angel watching proudly over his loved ones. Treasure the memories.
