John R. Makos Sr.

Makos, Sr., John R.John R. Makos, Sr., 85, of Bethlehem, died on Friday, October 17, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospice House. He was born in Fountain Hill, the son of the late, Mathias and Anna (Donchez) Makos. He was the loving husband of the late Theresa J. (Sabella) Makos who died in 1998. John worked for Bethlehem Steel and Bethlehem Corporation as a welder, also the president of the Bethlehem Corporation Union, coached both Southside Little League and fast pitch softball adult league, a coordinator of Bethlehem Raiders football. Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Annamarie Wadding, John R. Makos, Jr., Pamela Kirka and Tammy Makos, grandchildren, Jeremy Makos, John R. Makos, III, David Wadding, Jr. and Angela Snyder, a brother, Matthew Makos and brother-in-law, Daniel Castro. He was preceded in death by a brother and four sisters. Services: A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Connell Funeral Home, Inc. 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018. Visitation will be on Sunday, from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Monday, from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
