Dear Pressmann family,

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of Jack. He was a great man. Although the phrase "Words cannot even express" seems cliche, for the first time I can remember, it overwhelming expresses how I feel. I cannot begin to state how your father, husband, and brother made an impact on my life.

He gave me my first job as a legislative aide and I will always be grateful for how much he encouraged me and believed in me in my last two years of college, as well as my first year working. He made me feel like I could conquer anything and gave me such great opportunities, many of which I look back on with pride today.

His compassion was immeasurable as well. When anyone walked through the office door, he wanted to help them- from solving a PennDot problem, writing legislation, or trying to fix a pothole. Then, later, he checked up on how I was doing when my oldest was born with a severe birth defect. He showed compassion to everyone who walked in his office.

He was real as well. He could relate to anyone at any age with any problem. Through him, I learned about hard work and always listening when people spoke.

When I graduated as valedictorian from college, Jack stood off to the side, shook my hand as I walked down the aisle, mumbled "good job" and quietly slipped out of sight. It was a moment I will always hold dear in my heart. Jack influenced me in so many positive, immeasurable ways. I hope he would be proud of who I am today. I am sad that I never got the chance to tell him that and to thank him.

To the Pressman family and friends, It's always sad when a loved one passes, but moreso when they are too young.I was in cus scouts with John and followed his career as much as possible over the years. The good lord must have had better plans for John to take him so soon. He was a good person. Our thoughts and prayers follow him to heaven. Dan Leonard Jr

Dear Debbie, Sean, Laura, and Dan,

It has been a great privilege to know Jack. He coached all 4 Markowitz kids in Cross Country and track at ACCHS. More importantly, he was a mentor -- a "life coach" for all the kids he worked with. Such a combination of genuine caring and concern is not found often enough in this world; certainly not in the world of high school sports. Our kids were truly blessed to be "his runners", and we are all blessed to have had our lives touched by him. Thank you for so graciously sharing your family time with us and the rest of his Central Catholic family.

May God Bless you and grant you comfort and peace.
With prayers and gratitude,
The Markowitz family:

I am quite touched by this man. even though I never met him, I am sure he is with our lord, and that he is in a better place. The pain of losing someone that is close to our hearts, is inmense, intense and cannot be described. Time might heal the pain but he will always be right on your shoulder,, letting you know, he is by your side. In a song, in a thought, in his favorite things..yes he will always be in your heart, always.
God will give you strength.

To the Pressmann family,

I'm sure we all agree coach Pressmann will be deeply missed. it's sad that he had to leave this soon. i wish he didn't. I remember after the district xc race, we only got 2nd this year. It was my preformance that kept us from first. i was crying after the race because i knew why we didn't get 1st. he came over to me and put his arm around me and said "Congratulations on a good season, but it's not over. We still have states. You gave it everything you could, I know you did. Be proud of yourself because I am, and this coming track season you're gonna do a hell of alot better. Now go cool down and stretch." He always gave us his everything, as a teacher, coach and person. after districts for track he hugged me, kissed me on the cheek and said he loved me and I was like a son to him. he told me to give him my track scheduele for moravian so he could come and watch me run because I was gonna go far in track and in life....now I know he'll never miss a meet. I love ya coach! I will be praying for Coach as well as for you all. Please remain strong, he always was.

Both of our children had the wonderful experience of being part of Coach's teams. He was truly a caring and dedicated coach, who valued every member of his teams. July 29, 2009

Dear Pressman Family,
Mother Teresa once said, "God doesn't look at how much we do, but with how much love we do it." That quote epitomizes the Jack Pressman I knew. He unconditionally loved his family, his Church, his school, his community and his students and student-athletes. As a former president of the CCHS Booster Club, Jack was a source of guidance and advice to me many, many times. I saw how much he loved his student/athletes when he coached and especially when he was not coaching. I saw him tear-up when one of his runners danced an Irish step dance or how fatherly he could be when he talked to a student who was having a rough time. I know how excited and thrilled my daughter was whenever he came to watch her play soccer at Lafayette. And, I know how much he cared about the future of CCHS.
What a truly wonderful man; God just doesn't make them any better than Jack!
His loss will hurt for a long, long time; but, how blessed we are to have known and worked with such a great guy!
As a family, my wish is that your faith and the wonderful memories you all must have, will help to heal the hurt and sorrow you are experiencing at this time.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. God bless you and keep you!
With sympathy and love,
Mary, Bill, Will and Mary Kate Erdman

I am deeply saddened to hear of Jack's passing--he was truly an amazing individual. I had the extreme pleasure of coaching CCHS Swimming with him for a year, and his presence on deck had such a positive impact. His willingness to learn and adapt to a new sport, along with the sincere passion for all that he was involved in, was truly admirable. On long bus rides to meets, I'd enjoy listening to him share stories about his family and his life, and I was constantly amazed and inspired by his desire to always give, to always support. He would talk about goals, and what it really meant to go after whatever you believed in. His encouragement has stayed with me over the years, and I wish I could tell him that one last time.

Debbie and family, my deepest condolences. Jack will be greatly missed and never, ever forgotten.

Dear Pressmann Family,

As one of the student athletes who had the privilege to run on Coach's cross country team, I am deeply saddened by the news of his passing. For four years (and beyond) he supported and guided me, never giving up on me, even though I was always the scrawniest and most times the slowest member of the "family." Coach always understood that a love of the sport and of the team was more important than native ability or any trophy--although trophies naturally followed. His thunderous voice and formidable presence live on in my memory and in my heart.

Dear Pressman Family,

My deepest sympathy on the unexpected loss of Jack. I have only been at Central two years and did not know Jack very well but I remember him as always cheerful and friendly. I am sorry I did not get to know him better. It was an honor to minister at mass Tuesday morning with you and the other faculty members present. Debbie, know that you and your family and the many students he touched here at Central Catholic are in my thoughts and prayers. May the peace of Jesus be with you and may he give you strength in this time of sorrow. "Eternal rest grant unto Jack Oh Lord and let your perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace."

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Pressman family. I got to know Jack from running in the Parkway. I knew some of his runners, and because I would stop to say hello to them, Jack would always smile and say hello as well. When I helped coach cross country at HMMS, we always talked to our runners about the dedication of the CCHS team because of their coach. I will never forget the slogan on the back of their T-Shirts: We Run for Jack

Rest in Peace, Coach.

July 29, 2009

Dear Pressman Family,
Our deepest sympathy on your loss of Coach. Our daughter is an incoming Freshman on the XC team. She has just loved her last 2 months running with Coach and was so excited for the upcoming season. He made her feel so good the first time he met her saying,"I've been waiting for you." We are sad she will not have the "true Coach experience". May God Bless you all during this difficult time and remember that Coach is looking after all of you.

July 28, 2009

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Sean and Family,

I am so saddened to hear of your loss. Coach Pressmann was truly a wonderful mentor to so many--sincere, committed, loving and deeply caring. I was fortunate to have been coached by him in cross country and during the very first years of the track and field team, which he was instrumental in starting. (I still remember how disappointed he was for us when the 4x400 team was banned from running in the district meet during the team's first season; His genuine care and love for us was so evident.) He will be terribly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.

Coach Pressman's Family:
We were so saddened to hear about Coach. He stepped in and coached the wrestling team when TJ was a freshman and there wasn't a coach. I will always remember him riding his bike at the Parkway while the kids were doing cross-country, and getting all chocked up at the banquets. He was one of a kind and we will miss him. Take care and always know that he was loved by all who came in contact.

Dear Pressmann Family,

On behalf of my family, I wish to express our heartfelt sympathy and condolences on the loss of a truly great and noble man.

I had the pleasure of knowing Jack for over ten years after being introduced to him by my late father Tom Hafner. My father and Jack were close at CCHS and he admired him so. I also had the pleasure of coaching the track team with him periodically over the years. He truly was dedicated to those kids and the cross country/track/swimming programs at CCHS. My daughter Kaitlyn had the pleasure of competing for him for four years.

He was and always will be remembered and loved by the kids whom he taught, coached, and mentored over the years. They will never forget his legacy at CCHS! I know I won't.

Sleep well my friend! May you find everlasting peace in the Lord.

As they said when my father tragically past 7 years ago. It also applies to Jack.

He truly was a teacher, a coach, but most of all, a well loved man!

To the entire Pressman family. I remember when I was maybe 13 and Mr. Pressman went to a hockey game of mine at the Ice Palace. He wasn't necessarily a hockey fan, but after my game he still offered me pointers on ways to improve various aspects of my game because he cared. It goes without saying that his true and earnest care for the Lehigh Valley community was such an endearing quality that quite frankly will never die -- those memories cannot die. God bless you all.

My dearest condolences to all of you. As a fellow, and rival area track coach at Emmaus, Jack was my closest friend in this community. When I resigned last year, one of the hardest things for me was knowing I wasn't going to be able to hang out and talk shop with Jack the way we have the past eight years. He truly left an impact on me and my son, who Jack was convinced would shun the public school to join him at CCHS, where I would come and assist him. He was a great teacher, coach, friend, and person. You will truly be missed.

I don't even know where to begin. Jack Pressman was an amazing man, one that i will never forget. He was like a second father to me. Coach was one of those extraordinary people who go above and beyond for anyone who needed his help. He helped me through some of the toughest times in my life. I don't think i would have done anything with my life if it wasn't for him. He was the only one who was able to motivate me whether it be in school or running. My prayers are certainly with the whole Pressman family. Coach you will be truly missed!

Dear Pressmann family,
I am so heartbroken to hear of your loss. Although Mr. Pressman was only my Economics teacher for my senior year, I can safely say that he was a phenomenal person. He truly cared for all of us and he had such compassion. Plain and simply put, he was amazing.
Again, my deepest sympathy goes out to the whole family. And thank you, Mr. Pressman...
God Bless

Dear Pressmann Family,

I've had the amazing privilege of having Mr. Pressmann teach me twice throughout my high school years. Whenever I came into his class 1st period this year, his passion for teaching woke every one up. I am so blessed to not just have learned facts about history in his class, but also lessons about life. I will treasure each moment that I've spent with him. And I know that he's still watching/coaching us from above. My condolences to everyone in the Pressmann family...

Love,

Sean & Family,
Our deepest condolences go out to you during this tragic time. Coach Pressmann was a wonderful role model throughout my cross country years at CCHS and the many years after. His generous acts and contributions did not go unrecognized. He always had a smile on his face and a happy memory to share. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Pressmann family,

My dearest sympathy and comfort go out to you all. I can not even imagine what you are going through. Mr. Pressman was an amazing coach. He pushed me to the highest limit possible and was always there for me. He encouraged me to continue track in college, and I am now on the track team at Bloomsburg University. Without him, this would not have been possible. From now on, every time I throw javelin, I will know he will be watching over me and helping me strive to be the best.

Coach, you were the best! We all miss you! CCHS track AND FIELD will never be the same.

Love, Alyssa(or Emily as you often called me)

Dear Pressman family, I knew Jack in his State Rep days and sailed the British Virgin Islands with him back in 1988. He was a great guy and I regret that I lost touch over the years. To the Pressmann family:
May the good Lord be with you and your family at this time. I was a long time silent admirer of Coach Pressmann’s athletic teams. I was only fortunate enough to speak with him one time, but it came across how genuine he really was.

Dear Mrs. Pressmann and family,

I am so sorry for your loss and it goes without saying how special Jack was to myself and everyone else who's lives he touched.

The last time I saw him was at one of his favorite places, a track meet, and he was glowing with happiness as he gave me a hug to congratulate me on the upcoming birth of my daughter.

As the upcoming cross country season begins I'll forever hold that memory in my heart. I'm going to miss seeing that green and yellow jacket making its way around the course so much.

Dear Pressmann Family,

Our daughter was one of Jack's freshman runners last school year, and we had come to know him as a devoted and caring coach whose advice was unselfish and unfailingly correct. All future coaches will be judged by the "Jack Pressmann" standard, and we will consider ourselves fortunate to ever find another like him. We will always remember him and his concern for his "kids".

Sean and family, all of my thoughts and prayers are with you during this incredibly, horrific time. Your Dad was one of those people that just commanded respect from the moment that you met him, yet he was a true gentleman. It was always great watching him come into Callaghan's with your Mom and sit at a table isolated from the entire world. It seemed like they were the only two people in the world. I am so glad that you got the time to spend some quality time with him on Monday evenings. That became a nice tradition for you and it is something that will stay with you for the rest of your life. My own father died Nov. 15 1984 and there is never a day that goes by that I don't think of him. These memories will always be there to keep you going and your father wouldn't have it any other way.
God bless you all.

Pressman Family:
I am shocked and deeply saddened by Jack's passing. You certainly must feel an overwhelming sense of loss and sadness. Jack was a great chair for RACA and the BPRC. I enjoyed the most recent holiday party at the Brew Works when Jack spoke about meeting and courting Debbie. I also appreciated him asking about my son and his college choice. Jack was a thoughtful, concerned and considerate person. He will be deeply missed. My thoughts are prayers are with you.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I haven't seen John since we graduated in 1971, but I have heard and read throughout the years of the good that he has accomplished. My prayers go out to all of you with hopes that you find comfort in God, your family and friends.

Dear Debbie and family:
Now that the shock has worn off it is time for profound sadness. The Central Catholic family is so much richer for Jack having passed through as a student, father, alumnus, coach and teacher. There is an emptiness now that will never be completely filled. Jack and I had many long conversations about the present and future of our dear CCHS. He truly cared about the school and its students as he truly loved all of you. I will miss him dearly. After all, who can I complain to now that truly feels the pain of Notre Dame football? I guess I'll be emailing you Sean to cover that one! Seriously, this school year will be spent trying to cover all the holes left by Jack's absence. I hope he looks down on us all and intercedes for us as fervently as we pray for his soul now.

Jack touched a lot of lives, including mine. When I came on board as the tennis coach at CCHS, Jack was one of the first to befriend me. He was always supportive of our players and myself. Part of our success is do to advice Jack gave me. I will miss him for my own selfish reasons. Jack was a good man and I consider myself fortunate to be his friend. God Bless Jack and his family and may he rest in peace.

Daryl Hendricks

July 27, 2009

Sean & family: Our deepest sympathies to you at this difficult time. Please take comfort in knowing that Jack touched so many lifes in a very positive manner. I had the good fortune of learning much from him as he was my professor at LCCC where he taught State & Local Government. Few people had the passion and zeal for teaching that Jack had.
My wife Marlene was a fellow high school classmate with John and she always commented on how knowledgeable he was and she knew he would one day make a name for himself in the world of politics, which he certainly did.
Cherish all the memories that Jack left us with. I know that I was fortunate to have known him as I did.
