John Werley Obituary

John P. Werley
John (Jack) P. Werley, more affectionately known to most as Jack, Popsy Boy, Pops or Uncle Jack passed away on February 11, 2012 at his daughter Jessie and son-in-law Michael Haberles home in Zionsville, PA. He was 91. He died quietly in his sleep succumbing to the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Jack was born in Allentown, PA on December 28, 1920 to Leroy Dexter Werley and Anna Holveck. He was the last surviving of the six siblings, Margaret, Claire, Virginia, Charlotte and Lee who all grew up in the 13th ward of Allentown. The love of his life, Marge, of 51 years died in 1999 and son, Peter died in 2008 and granddaughter Jamee Haberle in 2000. Jacks parents raised him and his siblings in the 13th ward of Allentown where he played football for and graduated from Allen High School. He and Marge raised their children and surrounded themselves with their families and friends in Limeport. The majority of Jacks working years were most notably spent managing Park & Shop parking lot at 6th and Hamilton Streets in Allentown. Few would argue that anyone has lived a longer and richer life filled with more family, love and good times than Jack as he never met anyone he didnt consider a friend. He lived his life with a smile on his face and few regrets, always attracting good times and good people with his quick wit, endless one liners and his always welcomed playing of the BoomBah. He approached life as if every day may be his last readily adopting and living by the self-proclaimed motto The Glory of Life is Living and Loving. Jack enjoyed playing the lottery and dreamed of hitting the jackpot and sharing it with his family, often referring to it as The Family Plan. He never did hit the jackpot in the literal sense, but if the culmination of life were solely measured by the amount of family and friends you have and the amount of good times you spent with them, Jack hit the jackpot and achieved The Family Plan many, many decades ago. In quantifying a life on those terms, Jack will most certainly be known as one of the wealthiest persons that ever lived. With so many people who loved him so dearly, and so many lives he touched, it is difficult to imagine life and the way ahead without him. What we will never forget and what we have to cherish and celebrate is the long and rich life Jack had with us and the memories of our time with him. The highest respect we can pay to his life is to strive to live our lives with as much family, love and happiness around us as he did. Although he is no longer with us, it is comforting to realize that Jack is now back home again playing the BoomBah for his parents, all his brothers and sisters and most especially Marge, Peter and Jamee. Survivors: He is survived by sons, Patrick (Kiera) Werley, John (Kathyrn) Werley and James Werley; daughters, Jane Werley, Jessie (Michael) Haberle and Penny (Onett) Johnson; nine grandchildren, Tracey Werley, Sarah Werley, John P. Werley, Meisha (Matt) Joyce, Phillip Werley, Lucas (Galen) Congdon, Laura (Lamar) Lee, Brandon Beltrame, Camille Werley-Boffa, Jasmine Johnson and Jessie Jo Johnson; and by eight great-grandchildren, Finnegan, Ryan, Jasinee, Madelyn, Juliette, Alexis, Derrick and Davin; he is also survived by too many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces to list who live all across the country from sea to shining sea. Services: Graveside service, 10 a.m. Thursday, February 16 at Chestnut Hill Church Cemetery, Coopersburg, PA.

Jack was a great man and one of my favorites. I remember so many times when I would play golf with him and my dad years ago. They were so funny together, picking on each other like kids. If you did not like Jack you did not know Jack. One of the greatest Gifts that God ever gave any of us was Jack. Always ready with a joke, a kind word, a smile or for a party. Jack heres to you. I will miss you more than words can say. Little Leroy (aka Corkey

To my Werley cousins and their families, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. When I think about Aunt Marge & Uncle Jack -- it just brings such happy memories and great big smiles. Whenever I hear Tony Bennett, Sinatra, Dean Martin, I think of Uncle Jack just belting out a tune while in mid-discussion. Cracked me up time and time again! Loved him and love you all.

Peace be with you during this time,
Judy

Popsy Boy,
I can't even begin to imagine what life will be without seeing your smiling face, your dry jokes and the kissy lips every time I see you. You are the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow to all of us. I will forever cherish all of my memories from "growing up Werley". The trips to Vermont, riding in the bronco, hanging out at the lot...all the family gatherings where we always gained a new uncle or cousin. Mostly I will remember our relationship when I became an adult. Your guidance and love carried me through so many trials and tribulations. The Christmas eves you spent with us were priceless. Your legacy will be carried on through all of us every day of our lives. You are and always will be my favorite! Until we meet again....
Love always, Your Favorite (in PA)

Jessie and Family,
Your in our heart, thoughts and prayers. Everyone who knew Jack knows how blessed we were to have such a Loving, and Happy Man in our lives. Though is hard to bare the pain rite now, Jack wouldnt want us to mourn for him but to be able to sit on our front porches giggling and laughing the way he did and the way we used too.
Jack will always be with us,

Love, Annette,Hector and Marissa
