Joyce E. McCarty, 91, of Bethlehem, formerly of Northampton, died March 5, 2007 at Country Meadows of Bethlehem. Born in Cherryville, she was the daughter of the late Walter O. and Lucy A. (Newhart) Minnich. Joyce was a shipping clerk for Fernbrook Sportswear, Northampton for 20 years before retiring in 1987. Prior to that she was a clerk at the former Colemans Department Store of Northampton for 12 years. She went through the nursing program at the former Haff Hospital earning her LPN license, and practiced nursing there for two years. She was a member of St. Pauls U.C.C. Church, Northampton, where she was an active member of the Womens Association. She was also a member of the Indianland-Lehigh Twp. Flower Club, and also a volunteer in the Phoebe Home Gift Shop for many years. Survivors: Son, Barry W. and wife Pamela A. of Nazareth; brother, Luther and wife Lois Minnich of Slatington; three grandchildren, Timothy McCarty and wife Stacey of Belfast, Christopher McCarty and wife Lisa of Slatington, Heather, wife of Glen Maeding of Nazareth; seven great-grandchildren, Kali, Megan, Luke, Gregory, Carline, Logan, Matthew. She was predeceased by two sisters, Retta Wahl and Kathryn Haydt, and a brother, Perry Minnich. Services: 11 a.m. Friday March 9, 2007 at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, PA 18067. With calling one hour prior to the services in the funeral home. Burial will immediately follow services at Zion Cemetery, Kreidersville, PA. Contributions: May be made to St. Pauls UCC Church Memorial Fund c/o the funeral home.
