Judith Scheks Obituary

We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved wife, mom, and Mimsie, unexpectedly became an angel on Friday, February 17, 2023, at the age of 79. Judy was born in Stroudsburg, PA, to Mary (Walter) and Fred H. Rhodes. She graduated from Stroudsburg High School in 1961, where she was a cheerleader. Later, she became our family's biggest, loudest, most loving cheerleader. In 1965, she graduated from Susquehanna University where she majored in Business Administration and was a member of the University Choir and served as president of her sorority. Judy married the love of her life, Joseph Scheks in 1972, and they celebrated their 50th anniversary last May.

In addition to her loving husband, Joseph, she is survived by her children whom she adored and would have done anything for: Susan Taylor (Robert), Victoria Wolfe (Eric), Braden Hirsch (Genene), and Julie Hrycyszyn (Scott). She will be truly missed by her sister, Barbara Addison (Phil); and sisters-in-law, Theresa Bellenoit, Anna Kimble (Brian), and Ellie Burch. Judy was lovingly called Mimsie by her grandchildren: Justin, Jordan, Lauren, Adrienne, Alstan Joseph, Samantha, Colby, Jacob, Charlotte, and Veronica. These kids grew up with Mimsie's silly, happy, loving arms around them. Mimsie was truly looking forward to the birth of her first great-grandson, Conway Rhodes Quina.

Judy taught Business Education at Pleasant Valley High School and worked for the Moore Township Police Department and Planning Commission. She also ran several successful direct sales businesses and enjoyed running an antiques business, Yestertiques, with her husband, Joe. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling with her husband and friends, decorating her beautiful, historic home, eating out, antiquing, and her pride and joy, gardening. Her gardens will be maintained in her honor. Judy was of the Lutheran faith.

Our hearts are broken as we were not prepared for this loss. She will be missed and cherished forever. Hug your loved ones.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday evening, February 27, 2023, from 5:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. followed by a memorial service in celebration of Judith's life at 7:00 P.M. in the GEORGE G. BENSING FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, in the Village of Moorestown – Bath, PA 18014. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be offered to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mimsie, your photo popped up in my email today, and not a day goes by that I don't think of you and miss you.

You have left an indelible mark on all of us. I can still hear your voice, your laugh, and feel your presence in our lives, so you must be close by.

Conway, David, Reyna, and your two new great-grandbabies would have loved to be part of your life. Please watch over them, and all of us, from wherever you are.

Mimsie, we never stop missing you and feel your love around us in many ways, from flowers in our garden to bluebirds and every time I walk by our special Angel we put in our garden to honor you, I say "Hi Mimsie" we love and miss you beyond words.

Mimsie,

It still doesn´t feel real as if we are all living in a nightmare with the hope of waking up to your lively voice.
I can still hear your voice in my head replaying repeatedly. I hope and pray I never lose it.
You were so special to me.
I cannot thank you enough for supporting me all of these years and being the greatest cheerleader in our family. From your smile, to your positive attitude to your witty remarks, our family truly lost a genuine soul.
My heart breaks when I think about how you will never meet your great-grandson in person. I know you longed to meet him. You were counting down the days.
It really hurts.
But I´m trying my hardest to find peace in the fact that you´re at peace up there in the arms of Jesus.
I bet you can´t wait to tell me all about heaven and how much you love it.
I just wish we had more time down here on earth.
For now, I will live my life and love like you. I will be true to myself and beautifully honest just like you.
I will teach my kids all about their Mimsie so that your spirit is still alive always.
Love you Mimsie.
P.S. Don´t cause too much trouble up there! Or at least wait for me to stir it up! Again, love you!

Very sorry to read the passing of Mrs. Scheks. My sincere condolences to Mr. Scheks and all of the family and friends of Judith. I am a graduate of Pleasant Valley where they both were excellent very professional teachers. She was my Cheerleading coach. Quietly, we suspected who the love of her (both) life was. It was an easier time for teachers. Keep the faith.

I always will remember when getting home from basketball seeing the light on in the corner of the barn where Judy would do her antique work late into the evening. Always reminded me of the elves working like getting ready for Christmas.
Funniest moment was when I 1st met Joe and Judy. I had just moved in and was early evening when they stopped over to say "Hi" and got a good laugh when they saw me working on fireplace and Judy´s comment was that was us 25 years ago.
To many more to mention thoughts and prayers are with you.

Joe, I am sorry that your wife died. She and my wife, Meredith M. Wright, were classmates and sorority sisters at Susquehanna University. I met your wife once at one of our class reunions at the Dewey Fire Company when Meredith said that she went to school with Judith. Bruce Martin

Dear Joe and family, We grew up with Judy and were devastated to hear of her passing. Such good times-our Alaskan cruise, fishing trip to Canada are among those. Her infectious smiles and her exuberance for life were contagious. To know Judy was to love her. She will forever be in our hearts. May she Rest In Peace. God bless. Love to all.

Struggling with words to convey the shock, the depth of our loss, while my mind is swirling with images and reflections of 50+ years of precious memories. We love you always and treasure your unconditional love. I can't use past tense because it hurts too badly. Please continue to guide us as we navigate a world where we can't hear your laugh, be comforted by your words or feel your hugs. Our beloved Mimsie, you'll remain in our hearts until we are all together again.

Judy was my favorite "sub" while teaching Art in Stroudsburg School District. Sge burst into the faculty room one day and told me, "We just bought a stone house!" It was the same one we had been looking at. They restored it beautifully. Years later, we bought the one right down the road. She was a happy force of a woman- the kind you are fortunate to have known.
