Kenneth Walter Obituary

Kenneth Charles Walter, affectionately known as Chuck, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on June 22, 1932, in Allentown, to the late Samuel Walter and Mattie M. (Snyder) Walter, Chuck's warm smile and gentle spirit were a beacon of kindness throughout his 91 years of life. Chuck attended Liberty High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and developed a strong sense of duty and service. This sense of service led him to honorably serve in the United States Navy, where he upheld the values of loyalty and commitment. After his military service, Chuck embarked on a dedicated career with UGI, where he worked for over 37 years until his well-deserved retirement. In his personal life, Chuck was a devoted family man. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Mae (Roth) Walter, with whom he shared a loving marriage full of mutual respect and affection. He was also predeceased by his son, Ronald Walter, and his siblings, Robert, Irene, Woodrow, Richard, and George. Chuck's legacy continues through his daughter, Sharon Nicholas, and her husband, Gerald; his son, Donald Walter; his granddaughter, Taylor Walter; and his great-grandson, Austin Walter. Chuck's faith played a significant role in his life as a long-standing member of Calvary Baptist Church. His belief system was the cornerstone of his existence, guiding him to live a life of compassion and generosity. He was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in the tranquility of fishing and the excitement of cheering on his favorite sports teams. Chuck was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Eagles, and he enjoyed attending Penn State Football games, where he shared his passion for sports with friends and family.

You have failed to make your battle stations during general quarters. You are now relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow Navy veteran. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom and democracy. The carrier has turned into the wind preparing for your final departure. Taps is about to sound ending a successful career as a nation“s defender. Smooth sailing shipmate. A Navy Vietnam Veteran.

All fond memories from the time spend organizing The Central Park Reunions as well as from the old neighborhood (West Broad Street). One of the nicest people I've ever known. Sincere and heartfelt sympathy to those who will feel his absence. Kathy
