Kevin Yarko Obituary
Kevin J. Yarko, 27, of Whitehall, died Friday evening in East Penn Township, Bowmanstown, Carbon County, as a result of a motorcycle accident. He was the husband of Chantal S. (Fetchko) Yarko since Dec. 3, 2004. Born in Allentown, he was a son of Gary M. and Susan M. (Eck) Yarko of North Catasauqua. Kevin worked as an excavator/heavy equipment operator for A. Scott Construction Co., Wind Gap. Previously, he worked for Selvaggio Excavating Co., Nazareth. Kevin was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church, Catasauqua. He was a Navy veteran, achieving rank of seaman 1st class. Kevin was a 1999 graduate of Catasauqua High School and a 1999 P.I.A.A. state wrestling champion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of Tri-Boro Sportsmen Club, Northampton. Survivors: Wife; parents; daughters, Emily A. Snyder, Olivia S. Yarko; brothers, Christopher M. and his wife, Lysa, of Catasauqua, Brian A. of North Catasauqua; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Josephine A. (Pacaro) Eck of Allentown; nephew, Anthony M. Yarko of Catasauqua. Services: Mass of Christian Burial, 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, St. Marys Catholic Church, 122 Union Street, Catasauqua, 18032. Call 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday in Schisler Funeral Home Inc., 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, 18067. Interment, with military honors, St. Lawrence Parish Cemetery, Grove and Lincoln streets, North Catasauqua. Contributions: Yarko Children Fund, c/o the funeral home.

I will always remember Kevin because I watched him wrestle from little on up. He always had a smile on his face and I’m so sorry that he left this life far too early and he will be remembered forever by those of us who were lucky enough to know him.

Dear Sue, You dont know it, you dont think it of yourself, but you are one brave lady. And Gary, you are one wonderful husband. I have seen this in the two of over the years and find your marriage and love for each other so admirable. She is doing ok Gary, but think what your plans are for the both of you will definitely help. We got to visit some yesterday. I had to call her to get her up to see me, but those moments when I give her shots...well they are special. Over the years they have become our special time of sharing things we never have time for during the normal course of the day. It is catch up time. The time we talk about our kids, our husbands, your grandkids(hopefully I will have some of those some day too)even Zeus and my pups. Sometimes we tell jokes or look at pictures on the computer. It is never just 2 shots and gone. Our talks now will be of memories, and healing, and kids and grandkids and dogs. We will soon be telling jokes and laughing. It is certainly what Kevin would want for our Sue and for you. Today I remember watching your boys play football at Catey HS. Remember that night?

My heart goes out to your whole family. May this sad loss strengthen your love for each other. I was shocked to hear about Kevin. I only knew him for a short time( working at the Vic.) but saw a kind and promising young man. The Lord will help you through these hard times. God has a bright future for Kevin. Dear Yarko Family,
I never had the pleasure of meeting or knowing Kevin, however I did get to know Chris pretty well. As a bus driver, I spent quite a bit of time traveling to tournaments and matches with Chris and the team. He was a wonderful coach to my boys in wrestling, and it is my understanding that Kevin would also come to practice and teach the team. I have never heard anything but good about Kevin, and if he is like his brother then he was an amazing person. What a legacy to leave, to be known as someone that was able to make people smile, and someone that was there for people when they needed him. My heart goes out to you and your family. I have no idea what to make of all of this. It's been so difficult to make any sense of what has happened. All I can say is that I am so sorry for your loss. Well Gary. Sue, Chris and Bryan...It is Wednesay evening and I just can not get you off my mind. Seeing so many people today to share in your loss, hearing your priest speak so comforting about seeing Kevin again. I found myself sitting in church shaking my head yes so many times. That little Olivia and Emily!!! What beautiful little girls and they didnt make a peep. Right around the time of Taps and a very light rain begin to fall on our shoulders. Very gentle. Almost comforting. Like tears from Heaven, but not sad tears, tears of comfort. Reading this guest book...well, you have so much to feel good about. Kevin has touched so many people on earth in such a short time. I will miss his visits with Olivia and hope you (Sue) or POP will remember to share her with us. Love you all.

Dear Gary & Suzie,
Casey called me late Saturday night with the tragic news about Kevin. Words cannot convey my sympathy to both of you at this time. I cannot begin to imagine your loss. I can tell you that since Casey’s phone call I have been praying for you and the entire family and I have shared this prayer concern with members of our church. I do not imagine this means much at this time, but it is my hope that through these prayers you will experience the peace that passes understanding that only Jesus can give.
As I felt the pain of Casey’s sense of loss of a cousin and more importantly friend, my heart turned to compassion for you at this time. No one knows why God’s plan for us is so painful at times. The only assurance that I can offer is that God is aware of your grief and will have compassion for you.
The families of the Yarko’s, Hall’s, Gallagher’s, Schumacher’s & Suzie’s side of the family have suffered a great loss at this time. However, as time heals these deep wounds I hope you will be able to look back at all of the wonderful memories Kevin gave to so many people. Although I did not spend much time with Kevin, the times that I remember are ones of his great humor and his willingness to lend a hand to help others.
Although I am on the other side of this country at this time, it is my sincere hope that the next time I return to the Lehigh Valley we might be able to get together to share & rejoice in Kevin’s memory.

I never knew Kevin that well but have played hockey with his brothers ever since high school. He was always one to say whats up or how's it goin Jim whenever I'd see him around. I didn't know Kevin that well I do remember him from High School and always smiling. No words of mine can ease the pain that your family is experiencing at this moment, I lost my father to this same type of accident. One thing I can say is that if you speak of him often, he really will never be gone my prayers are with you throughout this difficult time

Dear Gary, Susie, Chris and Brian: When my mom told me what happened, I just couldn't believe it was Kevin. Although I didn't see him for a little while, I was hoping to soon. It's going to be really hard going to family events and not seeing Kevin there. I was really close to him when we were younger, almost like a brother and I just can't believe God took him from us already. But, I know he'll be looking down on all of us forever. I'll miss him so much!
