Matrona P. Rehrig
Matrona P. Noni Rehrig, 89, of S. Second Street, Lehighton, formerly of Long Run, Carbon County, died early Friday morning in St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain HIll. She was the wife of Frank A. Pop Rehrig, who passed away in 1986. Born in Parryville, she was a daughter of the late Carbon and Etta (Remaley) Dorward. Matrona was of the Reformed denomination. She loved to travel with her husbands band, Pop Rehrig and the Rehrig Family Band to many of the Pennsylvania performances. She loved to visit and travel to Nashville, Tenn. and the Grand Ole Opry, where they recorded country music in Dolly Parton Studios in the early 1970s. Survivors: Daughter, Shirley A., wife of Norman Green Jr., with whom she resided; sons, William H. and Holly Rehrig of Franklin, Tenn., Dennis F. and Linda Rehrig and David P. and Donna Rehrig, both of Walnutport, Dean A. and Linda Rehrig of Slatington; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton 18071. Call 10-11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment, Parryville Cemetery, Centre and Oak streets, Parryville. Contributions: American Heart Association, Northeast Pennsylvania District, 212 E. Broad Street, Bethlehem 18016.
