Just the other day, my husband & I were remembering Matt. He was such a kind, caring friend. He gave us an Evanston Christmas ornament. He came with us to Estes Park & he bought a Christmas gifts while there. We will remember him always, especially at Christmas. And his dog, Jacque (Jack) too.

Matt was a good friend to our family for many years. When he first moved to Wyoming he became friends with my father Ef Ruybal. They were always wandering around Evanston together. Matt later dated my sister Barbara. He was close to her daughters, Amy & Katie, too. He was always kind to my husband & I as well. We spent many nights drinking beer & dancing in the many hot spots in Evanston. In the summer, his barbeques were the best. Life was always an adventure with Matt! He would come out to Colorado & ski with us. He had Jack with him, his black lab. Every time we think of Matt, we think of John Lennon. Maybe they are singing together in Heaven. Love you Matt! You were the best of the best! Our deepest condolences to your family.

When we were young Matt and I met in a college film class. I wore a button on my jean jacket that read "The only problem with reality is that there´s no background music". Naturally, we fell in love.
We had many adventures loving life and music, art, photography, and each other. I made many photographs of Matt - one posted here thanks to his brother Chris - to this one I´ll add one last song to help us bear this new, final reality... Matt, as anyone who ever loved you already knows... you look like a movie, you sound like a song...

I am saddened to hear this news. We played football together at Alton Park. Matt played offensive guard and I played tackle. We played shoulder to shoulder for many years (1976-1978). R.I.P. Matt.

Sending my sincerest condolences to Matt's family and friends. Matt was my little brother in the fraternity at Drexel. I'll miss him very much. We spent some great times together, had many good laughs, played golf together, played guitars together and had the same like for music. I still have a tape we recorded together with me playing and vocals and Matt on drums he recorded with his 4 track recorder down at his uncle's place in Florida. My eyes have water pouring out of them as I type this. Attached is a photo of Matt & I in Key West back in the early 90's. We wound up there after a Grateful Dead concert in Miami. Matt had nothing but words of kindness "his words did glow with the gold of sunshine". He was my brother. He was my friend.

So sorry for your loss. We knew Matt for over 31 years. We have many acquaintances, but Matt was a true friend. I always tell a story about him. We took him out for dinner and we paid the bill. I told him, "When you´re rich, you can take care of the bill." Matt said, "I´m already rich, I have friends like you." That is Matt.
