Merry J. Murtagh

Merry J. Murtagh, 72, of Alburtis, formerly of Wynnewood, PA, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 in Country Meadows, Bethlehem. She was the companion of over 40 years of Spencer Lee Cherashore, who predeceased her on June 28, 2022. Born in Philadelphia, Merry was a daughter of the late Frederick Murtagh, MD, and the late Mary (Shaner) Murtagh. She was a graduate of Friends' Central School, Philadelphia, and Brandywine College, Wilmington, DE. Merry was the owner of The Sweater Works, in Bryn Mawr for several years. Most recently, Merry was employed by Bear Creek Mountain Resort, Macungie. Merry had a great love for animals. She enjoyed taking care of her many four-legged companions on her small farmette over the years. Merry is survived by her two brothers, Dean F. Murtagh, Esq., and his wife, Deborah (Scott) Murtagh, of Bryn Mawr, and F. Reed Murtagh, MD, and his wife, Dorothy (Rossi) Murtagh, of Tampa, FL; five nieces and nephews, Brittan L. Adams, Darian Leader, Paige Reel, Ryan Murtagh, MD, Kevin Murtagh, MD and their families. A funeral service to celebrate and honor Merry's life will be held on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes and Cremation Care, Inc., 25 East Weis Street, Topton, PA. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Westminster Cemetery, 701 Belmont Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, PA.
