I was sad and a bit surprised to hear the news of Mike's death. He started the year after me at Philip Lauer Middle School, and he was always such a friendly and helpful guy in the 20 years we were at the same school. I was then at another school in the Wilson Area district, so didn't see him very much, but we ended up retiring the same year. I know everyone considered Mike to be a great teacher, as well as an all-around nice guy, who will be missed by many.
PS: one time when I was coming home from out near Hershey, I decided to get off I-78 and head over the mountain to Pine Grove, since I knew that was where Mike was from, and I just felt like seeing his hometown area.

As Mike's classmate, I remember this big Teddy-Bear guy who got along with everyone. When I was in college, he made it a point to visit me when his team came to West Chester State. When I needed a teaching job, he encouraged his principal to hire me; even though later I found out I couldn't be hired due to the fact I was "over-qualified" (In other words, having 25 years of experience was too expensive when the district could hire a kid at a much lower salary). He didn't have to do that, but he did, because he had a heart as big as Pennsylvania. Another time, he invited me to join him for an "Oldies" concert in Macungie. Poor guy - he didn't know I was going to stand and dance alllll the way through the concert. LOL! He was so embarrassed, but hung in there:-))))) Mike will be remembered by his students and all the other people he touched in his life. Rest in Peace, Dear Friend! Vanda Kramer (Class of '72)

Rest In Peace Mike! Blessed to have known you and to have taught with you at Wilson! You were one of the good guys who came to work every day to inspire, share your knowledge of science, and support the children in your care! Job well done, dear man! Know you will be missed!

My deepest condolences to the entire Williams family. I had the privilege of being a student of Mr. Williams at Philip Lauer, and he will always remain as one of my favorite teachers. I remember on one occasion specifically when I forgot to study for a test. I quietly cried at my seat as I struggled for correct answers. Instead of scolding me for being unprepared, Mr. Williams came over and silently patted me on the back to reassure me that failing this test was not the end of the world. I will always remember his compassion, and I hope that my students will someday remember me the same way. God bless the Williams family, and may they all take comfort in what an amazing person he was!

So very sad to read of Mike's passing. I got to know him through his teaching in Wilson School District. He always went above and beyond what was expected and built the self esteem of his students. He would sit with me at Wilson football games and we talked about our children. His love for his family was second to none. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mike's family and friends. You were one of a kind Mike, loved by many, and rest in piece my friend.

I'm fortunate to have met Mike through our mutual participation in various Bloomsburg University Alumni Events over recent years. He was a great guy and a caring soul. May his memory be a blessing to his family and all who knew him. RIP, Mountain.

I can't find the right words to say, there are so many amazing things about you, dad. You were not only THE best father to me you were also my best friend. I will miss us traveling around the Lehigh Valley going to different high school football games. But at the same time I cherish all of those memories we were able to make together. We were there when Wilson won states in Hershey and when Liberty won! (Even though I never prepared well for the weather and you would give me your jacket to wear so I wasn't cold.)
Heaven got one amazing man up there! We miss you terribly, but also find comfort in knowing you're no longer in pain. I love you forever and always. Thank you for everything you've taught me and for all of the love and support you gave me.

We are very saddened to hear of Mike's passing. Joe and I worked with him many years at Phillip F Lauer Middle School. His passion for teaching and vast knowledge of science inspired so many of his students over the years. Please find comfort in knowing he touched so many lives, students and colleagues, alike. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.
