Professor Duddy was inspirational
to me. He was the one that educated me about organ donation because of his son. I passed that along to my children. I think about him from time to time .
He was so real and I´m thankful I met him.

I was so saddened to see of Professor Duddys passing. I took 3 classes of Bio as a Business Major between 88-90 because I so enjoyed Prof. Duddy. He didnt know me well. But he had a huge impact on me. I often tell my son, I learned more about myself and life from a Professor Duddy, getting a C, than any A I ever got from someone else And thats the truth. Rest well sir. You touched so many people.

Dear Cindy, Robert, and Maureen,
I was so very sorry to read of Pat's death. Even though I've only seen him one time, at Mrs. Muhlenberg's funeral, He was one of my best friends from fourth grade to our graduation from Sacred Heart School. This little girl from Tennessee was a real outsider at first, and Pat was one of the kids that made me feel welcome. His cousin Mike turned out to be one of my brother Jack's best friends. Now they're all in Heaven, looking out for all of us. Know I hold you all in my prayers. He was a special guy !

This is very sad news. First, to his family and friends, I am very sorry for your loss.

I was not a bio major, but took a winter course with Prof Duddy in 1996. He started the class by sharing a story about the impact a Priest at Notre Dame had on his own thinking. If I remember correctly, it was a philosophy class and the Priest forced his students to think deeply about the existence of God. From that moment on, I was hooked on the class and my entire academic career, and life, changed - Prof Duddy taught us that it was not important to store all the data in your head, but to know where to find it. He also taught us that our experiences shape our knowledge - both these lessons stick with me until this day. Prof Duddy shared many more stories about his life, losing his Son, and how he felt when John Lennon was assassinated. He somehow made everything in life relevant to that class. He, and we in the class, cried many times that winter break. It was the most vulnerable I had ever seen an academic and I sincerely admire Prof Duddy for that experience.

I honestly think about Biology and Society, affectionately known as the "Sex Class", almost daily. Along with the tears, Prof Duddy created a safe environment where students felt comfortable sharing personal experiences while they learned about themselves - and the tears were over matched by the laughs. It was the most magical learning experience I have ever had.

Finally, during that short winter course, I was plagued with severe headaches for about 3 months. I had to miss a class for a CAT scan and Prof Duddy not only waited to go over some topics so I wouldn't fall behind, but he took me aside at the next class and asked how I was and if there was anything he could do - there were over 200 people in that class and I had no idea he even knew who I was. What an amazing person.

As I continue to navigate the waters of academia and life while attempting to complete an advanced degree I am reminded of Prof Duddy's humanity, caring, humor, and wonderment regarding life. I only hope I become half the teacher and person he was.

I hope everyone who was close with him is doing as well as they possibly could be given this loss.

Professor Duddy was a wise and gentle man. I, for one, am a better man for having the privilege of picking from the fruit of his wisdom. He made Kutztown University a better place to study life, as he did for the world at large. God speed.

This is incredibly sad. I remember taking his classes in the mid 1990s and being truly interested and engaged. He would treat us like adults and even invite us to his home at Thanksgiving if we had no place to go. One of the few KU professors who affected my way of thinking and whom I will always hold in the highest regard. Deepest sympathies to the family and all those who love him.

It's been a long time since KU. I remember few of my professors but I remember Prof. Duddy. I recall his passion about the oceans, about the environment in general and about population growth. It made me look at these issues differently then and now. My condolences to the family.

It's been over 45 years since I last saw Professor Duddy, but I remember him and his Biology Class like it was yesterday. Truly a legend at Kutztown. He set the bar for others to follow as educators. Anyone who knew Professor Duddy or studied under his direction, was given some key principles in making them a better person. One of those keys was "giving back". RIP!

To the Duddy Family,

It was with much sadness that I read of Professor Duddy's passing.I was one of his students at KU back in the early 70's. Professor Duddy had such a passion for teaching! Everyone wanted to take one of his classes because he was so inspiring. He truly cared about the subject matter he was teaching and in turn made us care, too. When I became a teacher,I often found myself thinking about him and hoped that I would be able to instill in my students a love for learning just like he did in those of us who had the privilege of taking his classes.I grew up in the Kempton area.My grandfather's farm was at the foot of Hawk Mt. So each time when I get home and see the mt., it will remind me warmly of Professor Duddy and how special he was.Keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May you find comfort in the memories you have of him and in the special times you shared. Know that he was loved by so many of his former students. There is no greater teacher than Mr. Duddy!

May all your family take pride in having such an honest and faithful man, as not everyone has as that as a husband , father and other.I doubt they can imagine the countless list of folks who have held you in their hearts and prayers and countinue to do the same for your loved ones.

June 12, 2016

Mr. Duddy changed my life. He was *that* teacher -- the one from the movies that inspires his students to be something more than just unthinking, unfeeling learners. He helped me and everyone he touched to become better people, and speaking for myself, there's not a day that goes by that I'm not reminded of something Duddy said in class or to me personally -- and it always helps. I am forever in his debt, and I hope his family knows how truly great a man he was. The world is a better place because of his work, his philosophy and his kindness. -Bob Cesca, 1989-1994 (I wasn't a bio major, but I enrolled in all of his courses -- and I aced Fetal Biology.)

Cindy, Robert, Maureen, and family~
still in shock from hearing the news yesterday and now saddened to officially read this obituary
RIP Mr. Duddy ... bet you're camping/canoeing with Pat after almost 30 long years, plus I'm sure my Nana's already served you an Airport Diner special!
not only was he the dad to a classmate, but no doubt my favorite professor at KU ~ elected at least 3 of his courses because I enjoyed his lectures and finished the classes inspired with useful, practical, life altering information.
Remember: love lives on forever in your memories! It sucks for all those he leaves behind, but knowing he's not suffering and truly at peace is a blessing.
You're all in my prayers, with heartfelt sympathy~
