A finer friend you could never hope for. Best advice we ever got "Never assume in retirement that you will have health or money. Travel now!" And boy did we. All four of us making years of memories with many trips and Friday nite dinners together for decades. Wonderful humor. Great mind. Remarkable accomplishments. Magnificent family. The loss is enormous. Love you Dick McAteer!

I lived on Second Street in an apartment across the street from Sign of the Carpenter in the mid-to-late 1980s. It was always such a pleasure to interact with Mac and Mary Jane, both professionally as a reporter and personally as a neighbor. Thanks for all you have done to improve our beautiful city, Mac!
